New Everton Stadium Discussion

Most of the Tories got nice big fat envelopes and wire transfers when the very close ties to Putin Russians started coming to London weeks after Cameron took office, buying influence pays well.

The Tories are swimming in Oligarch money, it's not surprising to see the Oligarchs with interests in the UK untouched.

Abramovich and Usmanov don't even spend much time in the UK, what's the point in sanctioning them.
I'd be more worried about what the American's do; if they shut down oligarchs access to the dollar market then things will get interesting

Wasn't there an article a while back that said the steel was coming from a UK company?

Severfield has been awarded the steel package tender for the new Everton’s Bramley-Moore stadium. The enabling works were earlier started in July by the main contractor Laing O’Rourker for the £500m stadium. Severfield revealed their win in an upbeat trading statement to the City. The officials said: “The UK and Europe order book at 1 September consist of a vital amount of new work which we have acquired over the last months and now standing at a new record level of £376m (1 June 2021: £301m), of which £291m is to be delivered over the next 12 months. This gives the Group a good position with a strong future workload for the remaining part of the 2022 financial year and beyond.
The growth in the order book has been driven by several significant project wins including the new Everton’s Bramley-Moore stadium, two large and other smaller distribution facilities in the UK, indicating the sector is stilk remaining buoyant, new HS2 bridge tenders and other bridge awards indicating investment in infrastructure by Highways England and Network Rail. The company is encouraged by the current level of tendering and pipeline activities. Severfield remain well-positioned to take advantage of further significant opportunities, including in the industrial and distribution, transport infrastructure, commercial office (including in London), nuclear and data centre sectors, offering extra resilience and the ability to deliver future profitable growth.

The sanctions against the 3 Oligarchs are the same 3 that have had US sanctions against them in 2018.

It won't go any further, the rest of the Oligarchs (which is numbered to be around 50) have invested in London real estate by the billions, and a few Tories have gotten rich being associated with them.

They are untouchable under this Tory Government, even the US state dept said a few weeks ago because of the money entrenched in London by these Oligarchs that they are practically untouchable under the Tories, to much conflict of interest.

Don’t think Severfeild are a steel producer though, as in making the raw steel itself, they produce structural steel from the raw materials. They take it from the ArcelorMittals and manufacture steel ‘components’. They may procure from USMs Ural Steel, but more likely Arcelor as Severfeild have facilities in India.

It's definitely going to go further. You could see that from the lukewarm response in Parliament today. Before he finished, Johnson basically confirmed as much.

Johnson will do anything to stay in power - even sacrifice Russian income. As Heseltine says, he waits to see the way the crowd is running, and then dashes in front.

How far it'll go is the real question.

Will it rust though? Salty sea air and iron/steel don't go well together. Can see it all being mothballed, anyway, until Putin pulls back from Ukraine...which is never and Uncle Uri takes himself off to the Black Sea on board Dilbar to spend the rest of his days going around in circles. I am jesting...really!

But you are right mate, the best material would be wood, it’ll last a thousand years…..
