New Everton Stadium

As a non-season ticket holder, it's getting harder to get a match ticket.

I'm going to Goodison tomorrow, and I bought my ticket the moment they went on general sale. It's unfashionable opposition, and yet there were no pairs of unobstructed tickets left in the whole ground.

I want a capacity boost just so I can watch a match without a pillar in the way. It's not been a problem before this season.

That's got to be a good sign for our capacity ambitions.
How many games do you go a season?

The prices currently are pretty good, considering, with the same level of attractive ticket prices and with massive reductions for less popular games theres no reason we couldnt make a 50k stadium look very full for 19 league games a season.

Option D. 'Sponsor' Toffeeland.

Option D for me. Unique, cool, kids would like that and would create money. Imagine Milka Toffeeland. or Ferrero Toffeeland.:D

I'm just not sure that 5k people don't go the game cos the stadium is rubbish. The only people it prevents going the game are corporate customers. If you are saying you want more corporate boxes I agree. But I don't think we are going to increase are match going base by 10% because of a new stadium.

All imo.
A lot depends on team performance etc...but with virtually every new stadium the attendance increases substantially.
Also, you have to make it generation proof - Goodison has had attendance's of 70k plus and as low as 15k over its 100+ years. Nobody knows future trends...but you only tend to build a stadium once a century..so make it fit for every eventuality

And Goodison aint exactly a great reason for away fans from "lesser" clubs to sell out their allocation is it?

He's not alone, that's the point.

It's hard enough for those of us who live outside the city, let alone the country, to organise our trips - what with European ties and TV causing potential problems with booking transport and accommodation. This season it looks like I'll be relying on help to get any kind of a ticket.

I've supported the team since I was young and I even have my favourite Upper Bullens pillar to sit behind if necessary but think of those who are not as full-on with their support and get put off coming to a game because of the difficulties.

What are we like hey? We're getting a brand spanking new shiny footy ground and we're debating what the capacity should be! In all honesty, I couldn't care less.
50, 55, or a 60,000 capacity...whatever. Let's get it then worry if there's empty seats...or it needs expanding.
The one big positive, and it's taken 13 years or so, is that virtually everyone now agrees that we simply have to move on and upwards.
13 years? I can certainly wait a couple more...its goin to be boss.

In addition there are plenty of fans who aren't diehards. We get caught in an echo chamber here, but we're weird in that we spend all our free time chatting wham about Everton online and many of the locals are season ticket holders. That's likely not the average Everton fan.

Like all fanbases (or potential fanbases) the largest sector are the casual fans. Those casual fans would totally go to 4-5 matches a season if it was easy, cheap, and enjoyable. They may not even get to 1 a season when it's difficult, uncomfortable, and possibly obstructed. Could it impact atmosphere to have those fans? Probably, hence why more people != better atmosphere, but it all depends on product on the pitch and the nature of the fanbase itself.

I just have a hard time believing that a brand new world class venue with comfort, entertainment, good food, and great views would only see a 12% increase of fans over Goodison, for all her history and majesty.
