New Everton Stadium

People buy plots of land before a brick is laid, they buy whiskey before it is distilled...........however, I doubt though the naming rights will come first, why should it, the club will have 3-4 years to secure the best sponsorship deal and come up with the best name.

I agree. Plus the longer you wait the higher the precedent is set for new stadium rights. While there are plenty of factors that influence this (location, club performance, quality of stadium etc) odds are that the money we get in 2017 would be greater than now and 2018 greater than 2017 etc. I doubt we will have this deal finalized until the summer before we move in (gotta give them time to put up a big ass sign).

Name is immaterial, it will be 'Sponsorship Stadium' and then after 10 years probably 'New Sponsorship Stadium'.

You get used to the commercialization of everything to the point that it seems odd that it was ever done any other way. You become numb to the fact that we are all(mostly) simply consumers in the great grinding wheel of capitalism and eventually most people will probably even 'like' being associated with the brand of whatever that comes to represent a portion of Everton. Only sometimes you'll look back at simpler times when you felt like things had meaning and self determination (they didn't, we never had any actual control).

But hey, we'll be rich and in a new stadium, so the nihilistic moment will pass leaving just a trace of doubt regarding whether anything means anything (hint: it doesn't) and we will all just be happy that things are 'progressing'.

I needed cheering up, cheers ;)

When I lived in England (as an adult... mum and dad emigrated to NZ when I was three), I loved, every second week, leaving London to spend a weekend with my great scouser mates (blue and red) in Liverpool. It is a wonderful city and holds very special place in my heart.

I'm with @The Esk on this one.

Liverpool is our city as well and Everton should be proud, not cringed, to declare this.

That would be a dream. You are very fortunate my friend. ;)

Very true this: - was at Goodison in a lounge after the match against Arsenal (lost 0-1, Royston Drenthe had a good goal ruled out for offside). Met some of the Arsenal execs afterwards, and was talking with them about stadium development etc. They signed a 10 year deal with Emirates for £15m a year, but couldn't wait for it to end.
