New Everton Stadium

The Liverpool City Stadium wouldn't be an issue for me, but many would be against it, so it's not going to happen.

In reality, it will carry the name of a corporate sponsor. My fear would be that it will have a ridiculous name, like Bet 365, Tampax, Imodium, or Fairy Liquid stadium lol

Your all mad! Liverpool has been there for hundreds of years, and doesn't belong to LFC.

I doubt that that name of the city would be used in the stadium name, but it wouldn't bother me.

I'm an Evertonian, born and raised in Liverpool, proud of it, and I'm not that insecure.
Perhaps that's what it boils down to. My folk are born and bred Liverpudlians but I was raised near Wigan, and as such have no great affinity to the city. So the word Liverpool represents the club more than the city for me.

If the stadium comes to fruition and if the stadium is on the docks (hopefully). Then 'Mersey' must be used in its name, we have the opportunity to link the River Mersey to brand Everton. There would be no Liverpool without the Mersey, thats a simple fact. The River Mersey was here before the city of Liverpool, just as we where here before the RS! (in their second hand ground)

The Mersey also runs through Manchester and Stockport

This, all day long, and every day for the rest of time.

What's going on with this thread lads?. I was getting bored with all the conspiracy theories and hate so thought I'd give it a miss for a couple of weeks. Come back on today and it's all about stadium naming and capacity and sponsors. Have I missed an announcement or something?

Prime Stadium Powered by Amazon.

Good point. I was thinking along the same lines. When I go abroad, and people ask where you're from, and you say Liverpool, they immediately mention two things, the Beatles....and the other lot. I think any new name has to reflect us and our history. Many of the younger generation from abroad haven't even heard of us...sad but true.

Sorry, but the fact is given that the Premier League has never been more popular around the world than now, we're probably better known than we were in the 80's. Strange but true.

Ok fair enough. But I'm only going from my own experience. Those that have heard of Everton are not even sure where Everton is.
Yeah I'd have no problem with Liverpool being in the name somewhere but I think it's more of a local thing, I just don't think its much of an issue overseas. And in this money driven business, we have to sell our brand and name around the world.

Stick around mate. Tomorrow we're discussing the half time entertainment and what size sausage rolls are to be consumed.
