New Everton Stadium

It all looks like it's going ahead. Marvellous. Just been on Toffeeweb and one comment really hit home though. Somebody not sure how they'll cope with the actual leaving of Goodison that final time.
+1.

It took me literally 1 min in a cab from James Street Station to the Titanic Hotel (a stones throw to BMD) when I was there on Saturday night.

People need to get it out there heads that it's in the middle of no mans land surrounded by eggy smells.
I am sure our commercial division will be selling Evertonure to the gardeners from the waste from the sewage farm and making a bomb well rotted in little blue bags it will sell like golddust stop knocking the venue on the front in liverpool access will be made - stop moaning!

IF the deal is sealed for BM dock, that's only the first step. The more I think about it, the less of a formality the planning permission for the stadium will be.

The main concern I think will be health and safety. 50,000+ people all approaching a site from the east. A listed dock wall with only a few gates that everyone needs to enter and and exit from. If its just BM dock we are getting, these problems will surely be a major stumbling block.

Hopefully I'm wrong.
The dock wall is a good point. They need more ways through it than exist at present.

I reckon they have two choices: knock more exits into it, or put in some underpasses.

Sorry I didn't I've just seen the headline and assumed it related to that but the area there does smell whether it's the UU plant or molasses. As far as I can see UU were taken to court but were found to have broken no laws. There was also an out of court settlement agreed with local residents. The location is great if the 'smell' can be fixed if not it becomes an unattractive site IMO.

Agreed. We will have to see what how this will be handled within the plans from Everton.
Sinking hundreds of millions of pounds into a commercial venture in which it,s matchday customer base could be affected by local UU plant or molasses needs to be addressed as a matter of priority not afterwards.

I'd imagine there would be new ways of people walking to the ground from different directions, rather than just the main road on the east side.

Once it's built...:coffee:
In Kirkby you could see the obvious minefield the scheme had to pick its way through with residents, traders and nearby LAs all dead set against it. The KD was the same too as far as residents were concerned and the location was such that the traffic issues would have been monumental and require a lot of innovation to overcome.

I'm sure there are problems with this proposed site too in terms of affecting people's lives, but on first thought I'm struggling to think of them. With every agency on board it should be doable. My biggest reservation is EFC: Moshiri or not - I dont trust this club to do anything right. Experience tells me that if there's a way to bollocks something up or to use something as a smokescreen for ulterior motives then they'll find it.

Just make sure it can accomodate safe standing sections, which will likely be common place by the time we actually get this thing built.

Also maybe some plug sockets at regular spacing so we can all plug in air fresheners to eradicate the whiff

This always worries me mate, im not sure about the details but the council and other parties were happy to basically tear down Anfield for the other lot to expand, even though as it turned out they didn't seem to be 100% sure what they were going to do (LFC I mean).

It seems to me that Everton will end up with a run down area in need of re-generation, Everton foot the bill, council looks great, we end up in the middle of some slums with a cardboard box for a stadium.

I work for the water company and can confirm that due to odour control and environmental regulations, the actual site will barely smell at all, never mind the surrounding areas :bye:
