New Everton Stadium

Wonder when we'll get first glimpse of the stadium plan

Already been covered.

City were getting good attendances at Maine Road, they've won plenty since moving to the Etihad and they're still left with lots of empty seats on a regular basis. And let's be realistic, a new stadium will not make us into the next City. We are too constrained by wage rules to start buying loads of players and guaranteeing trophies.

Anything over 60,000 seats would be delusions of grandeur and I'd say 55,000 with copious amounts of hospitality would be perfectly fine. It's the hospitality that will get us the big income boost anyway.

Agree that 60k would be about right for us right now - anything less would be a mistake imo

Both City and United attendances have virtually doubled since 1996 - Sunderland have more than doubled theirs since then and they've been crap
Ours have stayed a fairly constant 35-38k in that time...and we've won nothing - trophies don't necessarily gain bigger gates.
I don't expect us to become the next City(I don't want to anyway) but I do expect crowd sizes will ebb and flow in the next century - they always do - Goodison survived with half-full games/seasons throughout it's life, I'm sure any new stadium would too

I'm pretty sure the announcement will be made just before the report and accounts are published. Probably towards the end of October. Further details at the time of the AGM in November.

i remember being told/ reading that issues between Elstone and Moshiri had been increased when Elstone said we would never fill a 60k stadium. Moshiri was furious. So if true that's the ballpark.
