New Everton Stadium

I think as long as the design incorporates room for expansion then that's the main thing.

It needs to be intimidating and atmospheric, if that can be achieved via a bigger capacity then I'm all for it.

I have been sceptical about building to an initial capacity of 60k but then again I agree we must keep up with the Joneses.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to build a 60,000 right off, rather than building a 50,000 that would have to be built with a view to expand?
What worries me is that the park end came with promises of expansion..we know how that turned out.

Forgive my general ignorance with stadium (and doubtless, many other) matters.

What is the announcement expected to include?

That we have acquired the site and engaged the architects together with a reveal of the design and timeframe for completion?
All being dependent on planning permission, is that the proviso?

A bit of razzmatazz on the day would be a great PR exercise for the club. One would assume the regular communications staff would be involved but it's really an occasion where we would benefit from having this presented by a more polished host. They should make it as grand an occasion as possible with invited guests and media, and plenty of visuals for us all to swoon over.

Does the club HAVE any?

If we are going to announce it soon then the Design Summit would be ideal. On one of the days of the summit all the visitors are going to Liverpool to see their new Big Stand and and also to Goodison. It would be brilliant to completely outdo them by announcing our new riverfront stadium on the day they show off their new roided up main stand.

Not to my knowledge, I was thinking that this would be more of an occasion they hire some "name" as a one-off, but I wouldn't expect that to happen. It would probably not be well received either if some personality was catapulted in to lead the presentation, but if it was me, that's what I'd do.

I hope it's not a case of Bill hogging the microphone for an hour. The presentation of this needs to reflect the ambition and wow factor for the stadium itself.

Perhaps Everton could acknowledge the occasion by actually appointing some PR and Communications staff, as they clearly have had none for some time...

Well I actually think you're right on this one. Billy BUtler has had his day as far as I can see, one wonders then if a Davro or dare I say even a Pasquale may be available for large corporate style events.

THanks.

The tour of Goodison is the 31st October

Guess like everyone else is eluding to we should have announced 'our new ground' before or on that date

They just need to devise a way to hide or mask seats for lower-attendance matches, without it looking naff. If the roof can somehow slide downwards to cover the uppermost seats, the capacity could be reduced from 60k to 50k and maintain the atmosphere.

This flexible build is an absolute must imo.
