New Everton Stadium

All this talk of filling the stadium is nonsense, we dont have to fill the stadium to capacity every week, we hardly do that at Goodison anyway apart from this season. Yes we dont want vast empty areas, which wont happen but what we dont want is a large number wanting to get in who cant because we didnt have the vision to build a ground big enough and missed out on future income.

A club that can sell 31,000 Season Tickets, with a good number of those being obstructed views, wouldn't struggle to sell out a brand spanking new 50k seater.

I even think we'd fill a 60k if we got the pricing structure right.

We effectively sell out Goodison every week, someone said roughly 37k a week, considering there is what, 4k obstructed views? sounds about right. Many people won't go because it's an obstructed view, I know I wouldn't. We would get near filling 50k if not completely at the start for the following reasons

Dockland Stadium will attract people.
New stadium factor.
A proper corporate regime.
No unobstructed views.

It's up to Everton then to get branding correct to be able to push further.

4k seats are obstructed enough to sell on the lower price band.

But a mate who worked in the box office once told me that 1 in 4 seats have an obstruction of some kind. So 10k ish.

Obstructed view used to be a seat with part of a goal obscured and I think there's about 4-5k of those. During Kirkby it became any seat with part of the pitch obscured hence the 10k figure.

I've often not bothered going to the match because there were only obstructed view seats left. Thousands will do the same thing.

We'd fill a 60k stadium plenty of times a season. If half our games have some empty seats, then so be it. Everton is a business and its up to the club tk build it so it can fill 60k every week.

We also need to make a statement and raise our profile. If we have a brand new, glamorous stadium of 60k, UEFA will choose ua over Anfield, Etihad etc for Europa League finals, European Championship matches (UCL finals? - I don't know the capacity requirements).

55k is small for a new stadium for a club in the upper echelons of the Premier League.

I think aiming for 50k would be reasonable. Different location would take time to adjust. I think a reserved amount with the scope to increase which would be easily possible with good design is the way forward. No point going silly when dealing financially.

I've often not bothered in my non ST days and it's been a mixture of what @Jamiednm says about having to have an obstructed view and also GP being a pain to get to. If matches were in walking distance of town that alone will add a few thousand onto the gate I reckon.

EDIT:
Actually let me expand upon that. For me going the game as a non ST would be a choice of driving and therefore not drinking plus parking in the streets with the 'mind yer car' mob, or getting two buses or trains. All to get into the ground and sit in an obstructed seat with poor facilities.
I reckon this scenario can be repeated so many times by thousands of blues across Merseyside. A central location with upgraded facilities and seats would help attendances no end.

You may be right.....but their city has a population of nearly 10 million.

Divided by 13 professional football clubs, with 3 taking the lions* share. I would also say that probably a greater percentage of Liverpudlians are football mad compared with Londoners. A lot of them will prefer rugger, crown bowls and tiddlywinks.

(*not millwall... well actually they are taking fans from Millwall...............ahhhhh you know what I mean)

I never bother going the game anymore unless someone offers me decent tickets.

The ones left for online sale are generally awful. Obstructed view or even worse...the letterbox view at the back of the lower street end!

The queues at halftime are also a piss-take but this might be a problem at all stadiums...I don't know

Since when are we in the upper echelons of the Premier League ?

We could always have a top tier say behind each goal that is non season ticket but only opened after the lower tiers have sold out, therefore not the smattering of empty seats you see at the Etihad, all the seats will be sold out close to the pitch and then the upper tier sold on a game by game basis. Wouldn;t be noticed by the cameras and we would retain the intimidating atmosphere. 50,000 then an extra 10,000 as and when it is needed. Even allow 5000 away fans - better atmosphere and more money! Also one of these tiers could allow almost 'giveaway' prices to students, schools unemployed etc one to boost attendances and two to increase the overall fan base.
