I find it fascinating that some people can't wait to rubbish any suggestion that the club is moving forward. Yet these same posters are usually the most vociferous and critical when match days don't turn out perfect.
Realistically we can't advance on the pitch, until we advance off it - I'd have thought those most desperate to see us winning every game and have a team full of world class players would be the keenest to see the off-field improvements.
Weird.
I feel like there are a few things to blame, assuming we give these people the benefit of the doubt.
1. 20+ years of failure
2. Liverpool supporters being insane
3. Some weird fetish with being 'realistic', which in reality is 'negative'
The 'this is our year' crowd among Liverpool supporters, mixed with our recent history of failure and incompetence and the natural desire to seem clever by predicting the future has led to a large chunk of Evertonians becoming increasingly negative in their outlook for the future of the club.
Basically, there are a number of Evertonians that define themselves as being 'not-Liverpool' supporters. And Liverpool supporters are associated with positive delusions (it's our year, etc.), so when defining yourself within those parameters you can easily fall into the trap of becoming overly negative to prevent yourself from being as delusional as 'them'.
It's an understandable reaction when you combine that with the fact that we've had 3 failed ground moves in the past 15 years and a number of other clear incompetencies. While you apparently have some inside track into Moshiri's agenda, many of us don't. His public facing actions have been pretty mediocre compared to the expectations when he originally arrived. This summer was, regardless of reasons, disappointing and familiar.
It is a normal byproduct of humanity (and especially youth) to always want to be correct and never wrong (see: vaulting). This is likely enhanced when you have to deal with Kopites going around in a world completely unto themselves all the time. I am as prone to it anyone. Some people deal with it by being negative. Others, like myself, simply reserve judgement entirely until evidence becomes overwhelming one way or the other. From my vantage point there is an awful lot of smoke regarding this being a hugely positive move for us and being likely to actually occur. That said, with Everton, it is wise to wait until it's on the OS...for a day or two.
I doubt anyone that actually supports Everton desires failure, they simply do not accept success as a reasonable reality and buttress themselves against further disappointment by assuming the worst which, in the context of the Premier League era, is historically the most likely outcome.
