New Everton Stadium

Whatever the design, lets take the Etihad as the best example of how not to do it. With its concrete structure and high roofing its got to be the poorest new stadium acoustically there is. For a modern design it doesn't even address the need to keep everyone dry, since the roofing is barely aligned with the front rows and is so high the rain drifts in anyway up to about 15 rows back.

The only thing that's good about it is the area given over to wheelchair bound supporters. It's the only ground i am aware of where this area is not at pitch level. Instead it provides great views, from the back of the lower tier, made possible I guess in that this is actually at ground floor entrance level since the pitch is below ground level.
The etihad, like the Olympic stadium was built primarily for athletics not football. Therein lies the answer as why it isn't a great 'football stadium'.

I doubt he's tweeting without the consent of the club given the level of engagement he's entered with the fans - he's conversed with @ToffeeDoug for example.

On that basis I am relaxed about it. I think the bigger issue is as usual our own PR stance where the fans get told nothing. The lack of direction and information from the club allows speculation and leaves others to fill the void.

We have a marketing and PR 'expert' in charge of communications at the club. What I don't understand is his strategy, or even if he has one?

Leaks to Andy Hunter and implied consent of tweets by hired professionals is not the correct way of communicating in my opinion.

Absolutely. It's a model of PR which harks back to the 50's where the cloth capped thickos occasionally got snippets when the toffs deigned to give them.

The supporters are one of the major stakeholders in the exercise.

I'm surprised our PR hasn't been addressed by moshiri. As he must have been made aware there has been issues regarding this in the past and nothing seems to have changed under his 'watch'.

I'm not insulting his talent, it's clear he is gifted. I'm questioning his behaviour. It's not that he has a twitter account in this instance (unlike a footy manager he's not the subject of hundreds of journos and opposition fans combing his activity for embarrassing tweets) it's the content, which are bereft of the type of gravitas I'd associate with someone in his position.
Grief.

The more rational perspective might be to judge the man on his architectural portfolio, rather than the lack of gravity in his social media scribbles.

The cynic in me believes it suited both parties: Anderson and Moshiri to be seen doing something. In all probability there are tentative talks about opening up a dialogue with Peel, but we're still miles off...as I believe the AGM will demonstrate.
Think you are all cynic actually mate! All will be revealed in the fullness of time no doubt. I think this time we have a very good chance of getting what we want, it would be a massive, unbelievable con job by Farhad if not, and I'm not buying that.

Think the guy is just having a great time in Liverpool and letting people know. No harm in that, shows he's human.

The more I read about Dan Meis and his work the more excited I am about what he could deliver. He really is at the forefront of stadium design and each of his stadium designs are so individual as he takes a great deal of consideration into the topography of the landscape. The heritage aspect of Everton football club and its standing in the game coupled with the waterfront location that has been paramount in the development of the city, makes his potential design mouthwatering. He is also able to deliver stadia within budgets and in the case of the new LA Rams stadium $400 million dollars under budget of other potential designs.

What he's done so far looks excellent. However, he never designed anything for the LA Rams. He designed a speculative stadium to try to draw an NFL team to LA, a project which never happened and was in a different location to where the LA Rams will actually end up with their City Of Champions Stadium. And the only quotes I can find re: cost are on his own website where it says:

"The current target of $850 million makes it $300-$400 million less than any other recent NFL proposal. This is made possible by an innovative approach to building the stadium into the hill."

Well, we'll never know if that's true or not.

I would further question whether he's able to deliver stadiums within budgets as he has actually seen very few large stadiums to completion (most of the stadiums on his website are studies, or designs which were runners-up to other agencies so were never built). The Roma Stadium which is still in the approval stage will be his first "soccer" stadium with Everton's likely to be his second.

He looks an exciting choice, but his firm isn't one with a big portfolio even though he has experience working in other firms as an architect. So he's not what I'd call a safe choice. But sometimes it's worth taking risks and despite the relative sparsity of projects, he is an award-winning architect. Obviously Moshiri thinks he's worth the risk, if he's been working with him for a little while.

Is there a correlation between tweets and ability to produce quality work ?

Doesn't seem to have affected his work thus far anyway.

Dan Meis heads up the company, and no doubt will agree the remit, wider scope and contractual issues with Everton if he hasn't done so already. The detailed stadium design work rests within the domain of this talented lady, Xan Young.
