New Everton Stadium

...I think many of the comments are a bit tongue in cheek. It will be a let down if things don't materialise but we are Evertonians after all.
Your last few words are what I was wary of putting in print for fear of getting pelters. It's exactly why, even as we enter this brave new world we should urge caution.

Lets not forget that outline planning has already been granted for the entire Liverpool Waters scheme. That includes Residential business and leisure. Any further planning applications will happen after Stage 3, the developed design. Everything will be well on its way then. I wouldn't expect public consultation to be happening for over at least 12 months yet. Will have to be something major to stop it at that point. Hence why the majority of developments are approved with conditions rather than outright refused.

Liverpool is undergoing huge expansion and development at the moment with the council encouraging as much as possible. I don't forsee ANY issues with planning.

Unlike with DK where other local authorities would be a big consideration and the Local Plan was compromised, I dont think that side of things (planning permission) is going to be the major stumbling block. It will all be dependent on the land owners playing ball. At Kirkby the council owned the land and Tesco were the beneficiaries of that - and Everton too if it'd have been passed by the Sec of State. It all made sense for all three parties. Will Peel be willing partners/sellers? I have my doubts.

To be honest that's pretty much my assessment and its all down to the land owners Peel playing ball rather than anything else although many have said that the club concluded land purchases in that area sometime in August so who knows.

Until we get the firm announcement from the club it could go either way, but I am much more optimistic with Morshiri in charge of something coming to pass than in the last 5 years. If we don't get the docks the only other option that will be popular with the fans is a redeveloped Goodison park but that could take years to expand especially if local residents complain about it.

Looks like there are no half season tickets anymore & that there is already a waiting list for next season as they will not be selling anymore on top of the current level.

Just illustrates how important this all is
Was going to get one but left it too late.Hope Im right in thinking that they have done this to protect all current sth. Maybe an announcement is due soon. My own fault, knew I ahould have got one at the start of the season.

The fans on here have put us in dangerous waters with blowing this rumours up and spreading it. If Moshiri doesn't pull this off and get the location at the docks? Will the fans turn on Moshri and Koeman? Are the fans prepared for a 2nd choice from the club?

I don't see how the fans can be blamed. Anderson has spouted about it and last weeks visit to BM was a photo opportunity. Anything the fans know has been leaked

Listen, I am as excited as most on here about the possibilities of a new stadium and dearly wish that it truly comes to pass.
It's just that this whole saga has developed a massive momentum of its own and it's frightening me that in reaching for the stars we will end up with one massive anti climax.

In reaching for the stars we might just reach the stars

It's where we belong

I can totally understand the feeling of pessimism, totally. Everton tends to do that to you, given the opportunities that were on the plate so many times down the years, both on and off the pitch.

I'm almost 40 years old so I have been lucky enough to see Efc at the pinnacle of the game.

It's character-building if nothing else.

However...

I'm sure that we are due a switch in fortunes, too many positive events have taken place in the last few months to deny that.

Moshiri is a businessman with an immense amount of capital and a quiet style that I reckon will pay dividends.

Let's just go with the optimism at the moment and see what comes out.

It's not a bad sketch to be in at the moment as a blue - healthy league position, a beautiful old stadium getting a much-needed face-lift and a respected manager getting to firm grips with a talented yet sorely underperforming group of players.

I think you'll find that is my point on BM. I don't believe it's done just because a rumour says it is but I acknowledge positive signs. I posted earlier "on balance for me there's cause for cautious optimism".
I wasn't at SC so don't know what happened but I don't find it credible that the members of the delegation, some of whom came from thousands of miles away, sat in their cars and looked out the window instead of just walking around the site they came to see for half an hour. Professional journalists have contradicted this rumour, one in a long line of internet rumours the large majority of which proved inaccurate.
I simply pointed that out. If people on here don't want to hear common sense or reports of journalists when they contradict the unsubstantiated positive rumours that appear on here they can simply choose to ignore people like me.

Fair enough on the " cautious optimism".

I have no wish to ignore you as I don't think you are a WUM, but I do feel you are being overly cynical in playing up the SC option, and not cynical enough about the credibility of professional journalists.

I just think those who are trawling sites to put up artist impressions of super stadia are getting ahead of themselves.
Dare to dream, of course, but for me at least I can see why jags is urging a touch of caution.

sound advice tbh. I'm expecting this to go ahead and be great etc. But we were pretty adamant we were going to do major transfer business this summer and buy a lot of players but multiple factors let us down badly. Nothing can be taken for granted, so excitement is expected, but it should be controlled.

I respect your opinion but I'm not cynically playing up SC. I'm simply acknowledging what's appeared in the national media, from several sources, that the site is not yet a done deal.
What I am being cynical about is the rumour that it is. Cynical in the sense that I won't believe it until there's real evidence.
I think that at least 75% of the rumours on here are inaccurate or misleading whereas perhaps 75%+ of the reports in the Echo are accurate due to journalistic standards.
The rumours will always be far more popular because they're invariably what people want to hear.

I reckon we will just refer to the stadium as "The Bramley Moore". A sponsored stadium could be anything. "The Tampax Stadium, for mopping up those bloody reds". Seriously though, Barclay's like football & have money. The Barclay's Arena maybe???

Why did the Echo have photos of Moshiri et al at Bramley Moore Dock, but not at SC?
Why are there no photos seemingly in existence of any visit to SC?

The Echo is a decent source at times but I wouldn't totally hang my hat on their 'journalistic standards'. In the last 3 months alone they've published an article on the wrong Steve Walsh, and wrote a column on Lukaku not attending the Spurs game when he was shown on MOTD sat in the Directors box.

I've no doubt the Echo get it wrong at times and the rumours are right sometimes. My post acknowledges that.
The point is one of probability. The journalists are right far far more often.
I'd also point out I've seen no pics of the delegation sitting in the car outside SC. If someone witnessed this why on earth didn't they post the pics?
Personally I'd love to see a credible source doing so as I think it would be hugely favourable to the prospects of BM if this rumour were true.
