New Everton Stadium

The best thing about that article is that Liverpool Waters assistant project director Ian Pollitt is openly admitting they want it to happen and the ball is in Everton's court. If we can take anything positive from that story it's surely that.
I understand your optimism but I'd say it's two folded: can we as a club design and finance a stadium that'll be approved by the planners?

Equally, does it meet and fulfil their (Peel's) overall plan? I expect they see it as a catalyst for the development so they'll want to help.

I wouldn't be too concerned: I expect it to be nothing more than rhetoric and an attempt to not entirely burn our bridges with regards to SC.

The club would be sensible to have some form of contingency plans, even if they are extremely minimal, so they'll be cautious with what they say.

Bramley-Moore dock is obviously our first choice and where the majority (if not all) our interests lie, although it will not be confirmed just yet.

Still I'm also one to believe in caution and regardless of what some people may say on here, so there's still a lot to prove that a move is certainly on.
I agree with what you say Phil, nothing is ever a 100% certain until its done, but Id rather stay at Goodison and wait than end up on an industrial estate on the outskirts of the city to me that would just signal our acceptance of making the numbers up and being happy to get by

Moshiri and co. will certainly desire a new stadium on the docks because put simply it'll support their project and eventually their end return.

However, a new stadium will be paramount for our and their development and will hopefully play a part in any future success we may have.

So while BM will be the first choice, if it doesn't pan out then I think they'll certainly push for SC - it wouldn't be ideal but hey ho, needs must.

I love Goodison as much as anyone else, if not more, yet I'm realistic to the fact that it's now restricting us and therefore a move is required.

Sorry if this has been covered, not read back yet. I've just been on FB and some Everton groups on there saying an announcement in Jan and work to start July 17, how accurate is this if at all?

It's definitely a game changer for Liverpool Waters but I'm not aware of Peel being so open like this, it's up to Everton to make it work now, we'll know who to blame it doesn't happen.

Peel openly talking about and welcoming this is a big moment. Previously their limited public pronouncements have been neutral to hostile. This is a massive shift in tone and suggests that things are progressing positively. Caution is definitely always wise with Everton but the Peel statement is certainly cause for optimism.

It's quite clearly ours to mess up.
From the outset we have had a world class stadium architect entering into dialogue on a regular basis with our fans, dropping massive hints as to what is coming. The photo opportunity at BMD was clearly staged for the benefit of fans and the media with Ian Pollitt present with the delegation.
Pollitt has now allegedly came out and actively welcomed Everton to Liverpool Waters, stating Peel would like Everton there.
There cannot be a more clearer indicator as to where Everton are heading. It will just take time. I don't know a great deal about Moshiri but I don't think he is one to settle for second best, be it stadiums or football teams of the city of Liverpool

The SC mention in the Echo is total throwaway. It's not a sign of anything. It's just a cursory mention. They mention SC in virtually every stadium article as a courtesy mention. Multiple people on here have posted that we agreed an option to acquire the BMD land subject to planning permission.

Peel speaking publicly - AND POSITIVELY - about the project is absolutely HUGE.

Peel very rarely speak about projects. The fact they're so supportive and actually said they want it to happen is a massive moment.

I'm more optimistic than ever. Plenty of people earlier in this thread said that Peel would be an obstacle and would try to block it or not approve of it.

This is an excellent sign that progress is being made.

My suspicion is that Peel understandably want to make some money out of any enterprise on land they own, and the percentages will make the difference for both parties.
The nature and timing of this public statement suggests to me that Peel have reached their final position and its up to Everton to decide whether or not they can make it work.
On another note I find it impossible to imagine SC working on any level,a backwater with more serious logistical problems than the disaster that was Kirby.

Really, one of the largest infrastructure developers in the UK who don't tell anyone about it's projects?

First for everything.
