New Everton Stadium

I believe this is much further down the road than people imagine. We have known for quite some time te preferred site and at the start of the summer we were told of the people involved in the project at that time. I think that everything is now in place , but a process has to be gone through and the biggest part of that is bringing the majority of people in local area with the project.

The process needs to appear to be inclusive and needs to give people a right to express their opinons. There is not much point in confirming the project is going ahead and then asking for peoples thoughts.

This is happening.

lets hope they consult the supporters when chosing a design for the new stadium like they did with the new crest ohhhhhhhhh wait :(
Why would they do it in the first place? Genuinely no need nor point, in fact having multiple designs would be more expensive

jesus im not asking them to have full designs with planning permission a few sketches will do ffs, or photos of some other grounds around the world similar to what we want, not gonna cost a fortune for a few pictures ffs.

My concern is that there is gonna be a lot of opposition from local residents. Just been listening to the radio on the way in to work this morning and they were interviewing some residents and they were all fuming about this, saying it's gonna effect their house prices and complaining about where they are gonna walk their dogs. Think this is gonna be a major sticking point for the whole proposal.

If the whole project is handled properly though, there is no reason why they couldn't keep the existing leisure facilties (the Liverpool Lifestyles gym and the football pitches) and improve on them, and keep most of the green space too, I mean it is a pretty big park.

If it brings 1000 jobs to the area, new houses, shops, restaurants and nice new facilities in the park, then I can't see how it is a bad thing for the area immediatly around Walton Hall Park.

Radio Merseyside were running this throughout Breakfast...Tony Snell. There was only Joe Anderson promoting the move...TS interviewed him yesterday in his office. Its the council's announcement as its part of the provisional Blueprint for the City Plans apparently. The other people interviewed on the radio were against it...the local property owning residents - typical and perhaps understandable knee jerk anger to being told in a letter. An Evertonian (or said he was) against it cos where will the kids play. (There was an earlier emphasis that it was under-used). Then Anne Asquith, Everton Shareholders Association was interviewed... negative and uninspired about the proposals...didn't like the use of green space...would prefer to stay at Goodison 'but it was only her own opinion, speaking for herself'. Which begs the question if someone with a vested interest in the club is so negative about it, how are outsiders going to take to the idea. Why was she the only Everton FC representation taking part in the broadcast...yet didn't want to speak as a rep for the club just personally. There was then another interview with an anti green sell off campaigner who is also involved in battling Joe Anderson over the sale of Sefton Park Meadows. He said the only notice was a press release from Joe Anderson...no plans or pictures. The Echo as well headlining it as a done deal today. Depressing that we always seem to be behind the eight ball from the off with every venture. Every Ba*tard Time.

I still don't get why though, I meant they'll know by now the constraints they have with regards to land, I simply don't see the point. Where are other clubs consulting their fans about what their new stadium should look like? I'd imagine we're well into architect designs by now, and are compiling the whole project and plans before we get this to the planning permission stage.

I've read the thread is clusters of pages and admittedly have probably missed about a third o comments.

Is everyone happy with Walton Hall Park, both from an Everton point of view & a Liverpool resident point of view?

Basically i'm happy with both, however having spoken to the Mrs's Dad the other day (A Red but a very weak one at that, the kind of person who likes football but wouldn't watch it, but he wouldn't voice an opinion as he knows he'd get shot down because of this) Anyway... He was saying how he wants us to get a new ground and how from a Liverpool resident point of view he thinks Walton Hall Park could be used better than to build a ground and houses. The talk of regeneration is crap because they are taking what could be a nice park and making it into something that could potentially be an eye sore. He also questioned why Stanley Park isn't a viable option anymore even though Liverpool were pretty much granted planning permission not long back

Anyway just wanted peoples opinions. Take your blue glasses, hat, shirts etc off and let me know.

The funding aspect of this is the interesting part. The only way we will get a stadium move is if the council are on board with it which it seems they are regarding this one.

There must be cost advantages to the club in the council being so heavily involved.

The TV deal is up for negotiation next year (I think) and there is no way it's going in any direction but up, especially on the foreign rights side. So the club is in a position where if it manages finances properly, it could find the move.

If it's all packaged up with more social housing and improved local leisure facilities etc then the planning will go through. There is massive push for new social housing.

I'd be surprised of this received the level of opposition from third parties as Kirkby did. The fact it's not going to involve a retail/supermarket aspect is helpful too.

If it happens I'd imagine the stadium will be named after the sponsors like Emirates and Etihad.

So if that's the case id like to see the stands/ends names to be Everton related... Goodison Park End, Glawdys Street, The School of Science Stand, Dixie Dean End etc...

you dont get why they should ask the fans view? were the ones who are going to visit it and pay for it over time with tickets etc. and i doubt were are well into architect designs already, they have said its very early in planning etc. if you cant see the point in them consulting the supporters then well im sorry. we dont want to end up with a joke of a stadium we want something that reflects the size and history of everton, we want something impressive to be proud of not a shithole of a design like the bolton stadium.
