New Everton Stadium

I disagree. I think the wall will quite rightly be pulled down in the name of safety, progress and aesthetic appeal. I don't know where this idea that old, disused and dilapidated structures should be forever conserved has come from? And if these structures are so important to the City of Liverpool then why have they been completely ignored and neglected for 350 years?

Things die all the time, buildings get pulled down all the time, Goodison will get pulled down. The world would be screwed if everything that was ever created was conserved forever. There is really no sensible or practical reason to keep the wall.

you would be very very surprised what care is taken over listed buildings/ structures.

i have re-built stone walls , and had to use horse dung, cow dung, lime that was mined in cornwall and other 'original' ingredients, so that the new structure is as close to the existing as it can get. it all has to be passed off and any inaccuracies occur then it has to be completly re-done.

its seems farsical, but there is some valid reasons for doing such things.

im going to hazard a guess at the wall having to be left as is, with very little modification, if any at all.

i think tunneling under would be the prefered option, as putting bridges over it would change the aesthetics of it.

I'm sure that what you say is true, but it's absolutely ridiculous. And suggestions about building bridges or subways are offering very expensive and probably even inpractical solutions. Honestly, if you are in favour of Everton progressing at BMD then you should be in favour of removing this useless wall, as I don't see the two co-existing.

It's ridiculous. Every single Evertonian has probably accepted that they will die at some point; a living, breathing, unique individual will be forgotten about, and yet we are supposed to prevent much needed progress in the City of Liverpool in order to forever conserve some useless wall that was built by slaves under duress from their slave masters. It's an absolute bizarre attitude imo.

I have to agree with that bit. It seems strange to value a structure that despite it's age is little more than a wall with a very ugly past.

anything to do with heritage and listed structures is an absolute minefield , it is all very evry expensive and time consuming meeting specific criteria. many of the projects ive worked on have proved to be a real pain for all concerned.

the problem is there tho and it is real and it wont be taken lightly i can guarantee that much. im pretty certain the wall will not be getting removed. perhaps some of it may end up going but it will be minimal.

Well said , it's like the Germans leaving the Berlin Wall up because it was built in the past .

RS fans will make a big thing of the wall just to spite us, they'll be marching in the streets.

Looking further into it, the wall is grade II listed, which doesn't have anything like the protection grade I and II* have. A quick bung to Historic England and it'll be sorted in no time.
