New Everton Stadium

As already mentioned, the interior looks smart enough. Not fussed on the gap between the pitch and the stands mind (although not as horrific as West Ham!). It appears to have a sliding roof as well - something I'm hoping the EFC stadium will incorporate.

That exterior though....dull as dishwater that. Looks like a warehouse rather than a football stadium. That's seriously the most exciting design they could muster?

Didn't there used to be an "Esprit" store in Liverpool one?
I can only assume the stadium is sited somewhere where aesthetics aren't so important (evidently). I think we need to make sure ours looks top notch, given its prominent position and it's neighbours.

Yes for sure. It has to look otherworldy, something special. A bold royal blue colour scheme exterior - not some faceless grey monstrosity - would be a great starting point like...

:) Probably. They are still there although the area around Waterloo Dock where they came out is built on I think. Its no nearer than Sandhills anyway. Be surprised if Network Rail and Mersey Rail allowed another station at Boundary St which is only a few hundred metres from Sandhills.

The other line to Bootle Docks is still open for freight and once upon a time Canada Dock also had its own station off that route. Still none closer than Sandhills I suppose.

Unless a new station is just one small part of a much, much bigger transport strategy...

On another note, In the MerseyRail future aspirations document, there are musings over whether to upgrade the frieght lines for public use.

I know Everton will attempt to make a home End for atmosphere but shouldn't we looking to get two Ends with the focus on atmosphere? Two classic Gwladys Streets. Or imagine if Dortmund had two of their 'Yellow Walls', amend that to us having two 'Blue Walls'.

A closing roof would be class.

I remember the cup finals at Cardiff - closing the roof seemed to add something to the match atmosphere wise.

Would a closing roof spell the end for that Speedomick fella????

There's nothing particularly special about standing "inside" in your trollies so his cash turnover is bound to drop.

Looks like he'll have to jazz it up a bit - maybe Annesummersmick?

The guy has done some great work and long may it continue, but I'd still prefer not to have a guy in his ball stranglers jumping up and down in front of me in the park end.

What do folk think of the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf? Great interior, not so hot exterior:

Looks like the sarcophagus that was placed over the nuclear reactor in Chernobyl
