New Everton Stadium

It was successfully done with the Toxteth, Harrington and Herculaneum docks to name a few. London also had numerous transformed docks.

Obviously the foundations will need to be stronger for the mass of a large stadium, but it's not too much of an issue at all.

The biggest issue is with upward pressure. There would have to be a structural seal, and effectively pin the stadium down to prevent it lifting.

They best get that right then.

This was just along the seafront at the new container terminal (another filled in dock) a few weeks ago.

I think that was land reclaimed from the sea rather then a filled in dock. With the dock the can excavate to the natural, build a retaining wall and build up, with that terminal that built out into the water. If they could build Alexandra Tower on what was a dockside im sure a stadium will be fine.

Is it just me or has the balloon been deflated since last week's misery job by Elstone?
Natural to feel apprehensive about this. But there's no reason for despondency. Especially if Anderson's comments are related to our ground being a football ground and not suitable for athletics.

"However, what I would say is that our bid is not reliant on a new stadium for Everton – nor how it is designed."

I think that's the exactly what we want to hear - that the Commonwealth Games and the design of our ground are unrelated.
