New Everton Stadium

I'm not sure its that helpful to compare the costs of Spuds and Chelski redeveloping their centre of London Stadia with the congestion/planning/logistic issues that entail because of that. We are planning to build on a crap bit of used land in the middle of nowhere so, although the land needs to be purchased that may not be the case for the other two, we shouldn't have anywhere near the problems of building the thing without upsetting the existing neighbours.

I'm expecting some kind of announcement towards the end of the season, last few games, to get plenty of the behind the scenes issues sorted and to send us off into the summer on a high

A capacity of 52,000? Would Mr Moshiri really be as small-time and as unambitious as to build a stadium that was smaller than that of a Championship outfit like Newcastle United?

Also, that figure of £350,000,000 seems remarkably small. A few months ago, the Mail asserted that Tottenham's stadium was set to cost in the region of £750,000,000. And the Emirates Stadium cost almost £400,000,000 to build when that was constructed back in the early noughties.
The Echo was clearly briefed last month and wrote that 55k was being considered and there would be an announcement on progress this month.
It's much more credible than the 52k mentioned in the Mail whose article was just a rehash. Given the historical slow progress on these things I expect the announcement in the last week of March.

No, the 14th, I said circle this date several weeks back, and we are still on course for the announcement.

There 'may' be an announcement of sorts to do with location, but I am near 100% certain it will not be a big reveal, I do in-fact doubt that any images will be shown that detail the plans.

1. Old Trafford (Man Utd) 75,731
2. Olympic Stadium (West Ham Utd) 66,000
3. Spurs New stadium (Tottenham) 61,000
4. Emirates Stadium (Arsenal) 60,432
5. Stamford Bridge (Chelsea) 60,000
6. Etihad Stadium (Man City) 55,097
7. Bramley Moore (Everton) 55,000
8. Anfield (Liverpool) 54,074
9. St James' Park (Newcastle) 52,404
10. Stadium of Light (Sunderland) 49,000
11. Villa Park (Aston Villa) 42,573
12. Hillsborough (Sheff Wed) 39,732
13. Elland Road (Leeds Utd) 37,890

Would be the 7th biggest club ground in England, not too unambitious. I can't see the new stadium being any higher than 60k.

Should just have made it 76k and told Sky to shove it.

I just feel like 60K would be a marker putting us in that top bracket of clubs. The extra 5K seats will be a marginal additional cost and the stadium can be designed to have upper, corner areas that could be sold last - in case we don't sell out.

It would allow for natural growth in case the club really took off. I would also be confident of it selling out for the really big matches such as Liverpool and Man U.

I think our average would settle down in the mid 50s over the first few seasons but we need to look beyond that.
