New Everton Stadium

What exactly was it about the Kirkby design that made it a 'shed'? Because I think it looked just like the type of four separate stands, non-bowl stadium, that half of you seem to be crying out for..

Seriously? It was devoid of any character or imagination, Ewood Park on roids if you like and totally unbefitting a club with our stature.

It was what is was, a basic £78m stadium.

It's a matter of taste and personally I like buildings built in a more classical style.

Whereas some of the more modern stadia are flashy and sleek I am not sure how well they will age.
They look like something that a visitor from outer space would arrive in.

The stadium we will build will have to serve our purposes for another hundred years probably or maybe more. Whatever is built
will have to stand the test of time and looking at what is proposed for Spurs for instance , I think it will be dated in a very few years.

I don't think there's any way of putting a figure on how much exta revenue a new stadium will bring in.

Arsenal make half their match day revenue from corporate boxes and while they aren't too lucrative per box (we currently only have 10 anyway) it's hard to extend that to a new stadium.

Businesses want to go to shiny modern stadiums not old grounds like GP.

It's entirely feasible that we would more than double match day revenues without raising ticket prices. If we where to do that then the stadium would very quickly pay for itself. Plus there's all the intangible benefits too.

It's also the main reason why renovating GP isn't an option.

But trying
Wall papered as well I've heard.
haha.

I agree that it was a Ewood Park, The New Den, JJB, on steroids. I just think that is what you get when you have a weird obsession with four separate stands, rather than going for the clearly superior modern day ‘bowl’ stadiums.

Affluent clubs build modern day bowl structures, impoverished wool clubs go for the inferior four separate stands design. They’re still new stadiums though, I’m not quite sure if comparing them to sheds is entirely accurate.

It was the spec we gave the developers, mid range, Basic and unless there's a miracle around the corner, I'd be expecting similar at WHP.

Spurs new stadium, bowl design but has a different tier structures inside, wouldnt mind if we went a similar route, bowls look a lot more pleasing on the eye but you always want different set ups with the stands inside

What's the capacity going to be? If they get that end behind the goal right and make it as steep and big as it looks in the picture there it's going to be uber boss.

If true then we need to move away from both of these templates.

We're a club of firsts so the new stadium design really needs to reflect this. We need to boldly go where no-one before has gone with stadium architecture.

I'm thinking equilateral triangular footprint, 3 sided stands

ladies and gentlemen ......welcome.....to Papa Bill's Pyramid !!!

This really. Building in the style of the times looks good for about 10 years before it begins to look dated. It's smart to design with timelessness in mind.

A brick facade is an easy way to achieve that timelessness, but really so long as it doesn't try and be 'futuristic' or ultra-modern there are many ways to achieve the classy looks.

I think brick would work well for Everton because brick can connote a storied traditional history. A modern design is better suited to clubs that do not value their history as highly. It also reflects the working class traditions of the city and club. It comes in loads of colours as well, no need for red brick at WHP, it could be slate coloured brick even.

Juventus' stadium has four stands and is lovely.
