New Everton Stadium

The debate is a sham in my view. They will say look at the this new site over here....do you want to move and then later on you will find out we will be offered a cheap cowshed with lights on.

We will be better of staying at GP, get into the CL and find an owner who can give us an iconic ground fro the next 100 years.

It pointless to move if we cannot grow and improve the club.

We have to move to somewhere were travelling to the stadium is easy with the infrastructure in place or at least on the verge of being in place.

It has to be closer to the city centre too.

I think it can happen, the funding of a stadium just like a mortgage there will be one upfront payment £10m-£20m then £5m-£10m every yr for 10-15yrs.

Tv money came into force this yr, we will have to take a hit with transfer budget for 2-3 yrs, but once stadium up it starts repaying itself with corporates, higher attendances, better facilities.

Arsenal match day turnover in final season @ Highbury was £37m. The following season was £90m . I know they have bigger stadium.

It will inevitably create money when it's open

Not a bad idea, just a shame we are already mortaged to the hilt.

it's in london though. not quite the same tourist attraction as liverpool. not sure if you can draw up the comparisons between the two, but you make good points.

As somebody not on Merseyside... The Reds once had plans for a new ground on Stanley Park, yes? I wonder if the council would be willing to offer that land to us.

They should give us the option given it was offered and turned down by Liverpool, but I doubt it'll happen, it was a mistake to offer it in the first place and I think the current council are probably quite happy nothing came of it, there's also still plans in place around the car park area of it as part of the Anfield Project. They're in a tough position though, the area around both clubs needs a huge amount of investment which they're trying to encourage and a new ground would help with that - it's probably easier for them to offer part of Walton Hall Park over Stanley Park though since it's a bigger park.

I doubt they're going to offer all of it though, it's a huge piece of land and they won't want to lose too much green space, they'll likely give them the option on the half past the lifestyles building by the bowling greens if that's definitely the option being talked about.

People should stop banging on about us and stanley park - the only place on the park that could house a new stadium is the bit where the rs were hoping to build on at their end of the park which is featureless and has the car park, now that they are staying put the planners will not allow us to build literally next door to them, 'our' end of the park is where all the victorian character is + the lakes etc. We have more chance with Walton Hall Park.

Well this is my 10 pence worth. On the North Dock Road - Clarence Dock - massive piece of land..

Some piccies for you.. I took them this morning

I would love to think there is a deal to be done with Peel Holdings for this piece of land. I work in urban regeneration and I know Peel will not give anything away for free. They do have grand plans for Liverpool Waters but, if it ever comes to fruition it would take decades to build out as it a massive scheme. What better way of creating a hub than a football stadium with bars and leisure facilities

Yep, Pablo, it makes economic sense to use this resource, the area definitely needs regeneration. Peel talk the good talk but, I suppose, like the Birkenhead scheme, it's anyone's guess if it will ever happen.

In theory it would nicely match the developments on the South Front (from Mann Island, southwards).

I love these stadium debates. Weird and wonderful designs, lots of suggestions for whereabouts in Liverpool, transport studies and a breakdown of the best pubs. Then everyone decides it's too expensive and we prefer Goodison Park anyway.........

Talking to my brother he was listening to the Radio evidently the is a leak story from the city council Peel holdings will be funding the new proposed ground with the City Council Bootle dockland????? not a good venue as we are moving to far away from our roots in the city, and considering in the Victorian era EFC v Bootle FC was a derby game! hopefully not another KD episode?
