New Everton Stadium

Ive always been an advocate of a 60k stadium.

I am however open to 50k-60k stadium if that is thought to be the best business model to stick to initially, i think what we have to remember is that its going to be easy to redevelop this site if required, we wont be tide to a very tight footprint anymore.

What is critical and likely determining will be our ability to progress on the pitch between now and moving, for example if we were in the CL 60k would be reasonable.

What the location and ground will do for Everton in brand is untold.

I'm still uneasy about us not owning the site. Being a wool, I don't know what Liverpool council is like but near me, Swindon Council own Swindon town's stadium and it causes all kind of problems. (Although a corrupt badly run club and dim witted country bumpkin councillors with Hitler mentalities, are probably mostly responsible for that!)
Liverpool Council won't own the site in this instance though

Does anyone think the news was toned down a lot due to events in London and maybe even Ronnie Morans death. Maybe we'll hear more quite soon.

I don't think it's as binary as 'we don't own the stadium'. It's a complex financial model, one which seem to be both owner and tenant.

The Schrodinger Arena.

Thats the double whammy. Lads we are only building a new stadium because we are jealous of one stand and we want to put Tranmere out of business.

Nothing to do with improving ourselves and increasing income, attracting better players, showing ambition etc.

...And we are supposed to be the bitter ones.

They absolutely cannot stop talking about us, their obsession is growing to dangerous levels now, to the point where it actually scares me to think of what they might do.

A question I have about this financial set-up is if we're paying the council a security fee of £4m-£6m, then doesn't that significantly reduce the profit we would be making p/a from moving stadium?

Sort of takes away one of the main reasons for moving.

Sorry if this has already been asked.

We're not moving for profit.

The more i look into this the more this seems like an absolutely fantastic deal if it comes to pass. I have long been an advocate of the Arsenal self sustaining model as opposed to the City or Chelsea model as maximizing our own revenue as opposed to being drip fed by an external owner.

Comparatively with Arsenal and their stadium move i just wanted to mention Stadium naming rights.

Arsenal have a deal with Emirates for £150 mill deal including naming right and shirt sponsorship a 15 year period (shirt sponsor ship ends in 2018) (Stadium naming rights ends in 2028), its likely this deal is worth more when the shirt sponsor comes up for renewal.

City's naming rights is a different story, they have a 10 year £400mill deal with Eithed, which i suppose is a bit murky.

Spurs are set to be looking for 20 year year deal of 400mill so 20 mill a season.

Its difficult to make a comparison on the worth of our naming rights. When you look at an iconic stadium West Ham were in negotiations with an Indian company for 4.5mill deal, that couldn't be agreed and their stadium remains unsponsored.

I suppose what you would be optimistic about is Moshiris ability to broker a deal, this stadium deal and the sponsorship deal USM being a case in point.

I suppose my general point being the 14.4 mill liability annually has a good chance in being largely of wholly met by a stadium naming deal. Before you look at other revenue streams.
