New Everton Stadium

Could work I wouldnt mind that, just use the new stadium for the opening/closing ceremony

It would have to be a new ground to have the running track around it. City ground only had three fully built sides for the Commonwealth games and a temporary stand, then changed to a stadium for football afterwards. Anyway, it will be Birmingham's unless they say they don't want it.

It's pretty much nailed on Birmingham would get it. Better infrastructure, got the London Olympic bid team working on it and about to complete a feasibility study into holding it.

Even so, a new build could take the possibility of having a track included at a later date if need be. Wembley could have a track installed within two weeks if need be at a reduced capacity.

Not sure we are paying capital off, we are paying effectively rent on a lease with the right to by at the end of 40 years as far as I know. How much that final payment would be is not clear though. With regard to the rate, EFC borrows secured money at about 8% (for example the factored media rights), local authorities borrow at about 1 % over Gilt so I think about 3% at mo. Every 1% of interest on 300m is 9m, so plenty of scope there.

Apr is 1.45%, government lending terms.

Thing is, they say they're not bothered, couldn't care less, that it will be a plastic stadium etc, etc

But what the inbred f...wits dont get, is the pure quantity of objections and desperate efforts to show how appethetic they are shows for the world how much they absolutely hate the idea of this going ahead.

:D

if they felt that way they wouldn't be commenting on it full stop.

Just been reading the Everton Manana thread on Rawk. The belters are obsessed with how the stadium is being funded and why should Everton basically get a new stadium. Not once did any poster on there say what it means in terms of positive growth, jobs and regeneration to that area, and the boost to the economy in our city. This is a great thing for the city of Liverpool yet all they can do spout jealous bile.
The council has bent over backwards for them on many occasions with little or nothing in return. Seeing them explode today is just beautiful, and I've witnessed a couple of the belters in person today, do just that.

Why would they....there services and jobs are safe down southhh

Who said that ffs?! lol

RS mate text me it in regards to all the 'heads falling off' remarks that keep being aimed at them. He reckons they haven't got a problem with the stadium being on the docks :hayee: he says it's more concern about the 'City' having to pick up the pieces if it goes tits up. :D

He also said the other day that Anderson should be investigated because he reckons he is taking a bung.

Liverpool have been the bigger club in the City for quite a while now.
This has the potential to be a game changer. We have all seen so many disappointments that we take nothing for granted.

It is now only what has happened already and what is known already, but there are also the possibilities of what could happen in the future.

The elephant in the room is Usmanov...I think his involvement is what many are really afraid of.
I am not convinced that a lot of ordinary Liverpool supporters fully comprehend the changes and momentum at Everton, the stadium has not come out of the blue.
The arrival of Moshiri has kicked everything up a couple of gears.

Totally agree. There is a generation of Everton and Liverpool fans who have known nothing but Liverpool FC being top dogs in this city. Prior to the the 70s, Everton were top dogs in city for many decades. Things change, they move in cycles. This new stadium will not transform Everton into top dogs overnight. What it will do is give Everton the opportunity to grow rather than being stunted.

The key to all the excitement is the location of the new stadium. The city centre area is going through a transformation which once the Liverpool Waters project is complete, will make Liverpool a major global attraction and goto destination. Everton will benefit for many, many decades to come, just by having a stadium on that famous waterfront. People who visit the city or choose to explore the city will be introduced to Everton FC. Rather than us being tucked away out of sight as we are now, we will be on the main stage. Bramley Moore and Liverpool Waters will become a major visitors attraction, along with Liverpool One, and The Albert Dock now. It all means that Everton FC will grow, regardless of whether someone like Usmanov comes in or not.
