New Everton Stadium

Considering we get like 70m a year from the new tv revenue alone I doubt 150m is a fair evaluation of our price now

I would be pooing bricks if I was Bill though given our atrocious form and precarious points tally
Bill deserves no more than a relegated Everton and being hounded out of the club by irate supporters for a pittance. This Board is a joke...

When they decided to rebuild the Park End years ago surely it would have been better at the time to consider a bigger capacity stand and include two tiers and executive boxes behind the goal. What an opportunity missed to get it right first time.

No brainer, for very little extra they could have added another 6/8k to that end, and a row of boxes.

The deal of the century was King's Dock and Billy Liar told us time and time again that
he had everything planned and under control. He lied. Why? God Knows but that is the measure of the man.

Paul and Anita Gregg offered the 30m needed as a mortgage to trigger the grants that would fund the rest of the stadium build. In return they wanted more say in the running of the club. Paul even had meetings with small groups of shareholders and came over very well indeed. Bill didn't wan't to loosen his grip so between him and Samuelson (The lifelong Blue who couldn't recall the '66 final score at the AGM) they invented the "Fortress Sports Fund" who were coming in to the save the day, no need for Gregg.

It took a few years but our old comms guy (forget his name) admitted the whole things was just a "means to an end."

Kenwright, he's some super-blue saviour him.

dont know if its true or not but heard at the time that when Gregg offerd to lend the money , he wanted control of the consessions inside the ground as part of the deal and to update the running of the fianance side of things, no way was bill ever going to let that happen.

It was along those lines, but Paul and (especially) Anita would have made a far better fist of the commercial side of the club than the current occupants.

They essentially bankrolled the takeover and then got booted out when they wanted more say. I think the Greggs eventually sold up to Kenwright, who in turn borrowed the money from Terry Lehey (if stories are to be believed) to buy the shares.

I still feel ill when I think of all the blerts who applauded his big fat face during the Villa game a few seasons ago.

People need to do a bit of research rather than get the news from the Official Website.
Doesnt show anything other than the Greggs were loaded..

Who knows what they would have done. No doubt they'd have sold us for a profit to a foreigner, unlike Bill who has blocked several. Glad we dodged City's first owner Shinawatra was it? Or a few others I can think of.

The 70M comes in one door and goes directly to the players car park

check the expenditure on transfers, wages and the mystery 'other operating expenses', 24M last time I looked.

check the number of share and what they cost.

check the debt.

not that simple, when you buy, you buy the shares...only...for how ever much or little you have to pay for them, you inherit the debt and the interest payments required to serve it.
You have to pay the other on going operating costs AND transfers in

we are not at that price or any price near half that a viable proposition...if we were we would have been bought

killed me that , couldnt get over it for days, between that and are bottling it at wembley agaist the rs, was end of me going the match, swore i would stop going at the end of that season if he were still around ,after forty odd years of going, hardly been back since.
intresting note about the goings on after this around the kirkby shed time, i was on bluekipper and was getting pm from a poster who, was deffo an insider at the club,( not the fella on the gate or anything like that) was telling me all sorts of stuff that was going on, no mate of bill i can tell you, but i couldnt let a lot of it out as i had given my word not to, used to give bits of it i could, to Davek on here as he had the sense to be agaist it as well.

Having a new ground is not just about increasing capacity.

It's about having a brand new purpose built facility with a zillion executive boxes and adequate parking and facilities surrounding the ground.

Look at the Etihad. Look at the Emirates.

Goodison is hemmed in with terraced streets, a church, a school....

Liverpool are only managing to redevelop Anfield because they spent 15 years buying up all the surrounding streets and streets of houses to flatten, in order to create the necessary land.
GP is hemmed in at the Gwladys St end, true. But the school has a declining roll and was supposed to be closing/moving. There's lots of space at the Park End. And you could buy all the properties on Goodison Rd for a couple of million.

No, the simple truth is that the Board want a new ground so the major shareholders can sell up with a handsome profit.

Not being funny but If I'm a mega billionaire Yank/Sheikh, I'm not going to care about history. But I will care about taking a team who can Offer me a big stadium ready built that I don't have to pay for (yes, I am calling cardiff, villa etc more appealing), than Everton, who have an unrealistic sentimental related, price tag, which, when buying will still have to pay off debts, however "small", they are, and then fork out £100m+ on a new stadium.

This was obvious to everyone anyway. New stadium = New Owners.

Was the park end not designed so that a second tier could be added if required?

Exactly...

If anyone's been the new City and Arsenal stadiums they'd see what new builds can offer! Great facilities and a much better day out for amilies..

Short answer. No.

Long answer, it doesn't have the foundations, so that you couldn't even retrofit a tier over it.

I believe they went for the cheapest option at the time, and most of that was funded by some football development grant that was around pre-EPL.

What on earth do you think Bill plans to do? Give it away to a bigger and better blue than him when the time is right?

Good old Bill, remorgaged his house....doesn't take a salary, like the rest of them.

What do you think the yearly VIBRAC loan is? Even after lowering the debt each year for the past couple we still borrow 10 mil a year from a mystery Cayman Islands lender only to pay back that sum with a healthy ammount of interest. Robert Earl is a director of that Cayman company. Does that not strike you as suspicious?

For what it's worth, I don't long for a "loaded" owner, I wan't an owner with a plan that goes beyond TV money survival.
