New Everton Stadium

The final decision on which English city will be chosen to bid for the CWG 2026 will not be taken until September 2018.
Elstone has suggested a timescale of submitting a planning application at the end of 2017.
Conclusion; the Mayor will exert substantial pressure on EFC to include a running track as part of the stadium design.
There may already be an 'understanding' there that it was contingent on getting LCC to provide the SPV financial arrangement. Who knows?
So even if Liverpool fail to be chosen we could still end up in a 'bowl' for the next 100 years.
I hope the powers that be at EFC have the foresight not to compromise the future of the club like that.

I think you're right. I think the deal does give LCC leverage.

And he's building bridges with Everton at the moment isn't he? Dragging the club's name through the mud.

Hammers fans were conned into thinking that the track would not mean crap, distant views for their football games once removed. Looks like we're falling for the same arguments.

Well not really, the ground is being built with Everton in mind, the Olympic stadium was intially built with just the Olympics in mind with maybe football after it, we haven't even got the games yet, the architect has cited West Ham as something we will not end up with

How do they not tally? The Commowealth Games would bring in a huge amount of tourism £££, offsetting lack of Everton payments.

And what's this about 'ruining' the stadium? The athletics track has always been talked about as being temporary. Are you actually just playing devils advocate or are you the most miserable, negative person in the country?
Dave appears to be an expert on finances, stadium design, local politics and his specialist subject is managerial appointments. I haven't seen him getting any of the above right to date

I wouldn't worry about this. Man City and West Ham both bummed a free stadium on the back of being used for track and field.

As far as we know LCC can't afford to do this and they are trying to use us to piggy back off of. So it will be a football stadium that can be converted to have a track (if poss.) and not the other way around.

I think everyone can see what a disaster the the London Stadium has been for West Ham, there is no way we would go down that route.

There is little point thinking about this until we see who gets the games and then if it is Liverpool, what Dan Meis can come up with.
