New Everton Stadium

Two transfer windows with a billionaire behind us and we had to sell to buy.

I dont think we expected that 'a year and 3 months ago' did we?

Sorry i did get what you were saying just after I posted it. Yes it was a hard window, but we were left in a hard place from the previous manager. Rome was not built in a day, you just need to keep your powder dry for if this continues to happen. Unless the Mosh turns down Bill Gates who says screw the world I want to plough all my money into Everton I don't see anything other than let this one play out. After 3 years we may be able to judge, more likely after 5 though.

I dont know what that even is.

But if you dont trust him cos he wants to use his connections, and nouse, to get us an ace stadium, whilst leaving his own cash available, if needed, for team matters, rather than locked into bricks and mortar, then yes. It is.

I have explained to you the how these wheels work mate. He is using them to get the ground.

The debt you have seized upon is of miniscule risk to EFC, and hence, to the likely funder(s) of said stadium.
There is nothing concrete you can point to at this moment in time that supports any of the claims made for Moshiri. It's an act of faith.

I'll judge him on investment.

That's the only way. Everything else is spin.

It is. It's a reflection of the progress of all clubs in their effort to get top four and win trophies...as all the data underlines.
Well. I don't measure the clubs intent purely on money spent. We're moving in the right direction on and off the pitch.

I mean, you could start outsmarting yourself and say that if it all seemed too good to be true then it probably is. Moshiri doesn't appear to be perfect, but still seems to be pointing us in the right direction, which to some may be a comforting guard against the Venky's type owners.

To me until he actually buys us some players or work begins on the ground everything is in a cautious holding pattern. I also tend to not trust rich men with opaque motivation.
So you're saying exactly the same as me.

We bought no one last summer...until Stones was sold.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out does it?

Exactly, and we bought bang average. Tonight will see us wave goodbye to two more players at their last home match
hardly a ringing statement of intent we had hoped for

Of course. I'm passing a provisional appraisal of his time here. Time will judge him. We can make some partial conclusions though on how matters will roll out given the limited data we have so far though. And for my money it doesn't look like we're getting what we were told we were getting.

We couldnt till we did, so, yeah, sell to buy, if you like.

This stadium will banish, well, minimise the FFP, SSTC rules as it will markedly improve the income that will enable us to put that improved cash flow into the equations that govern the way we can work in the market.

That is why the way this deal, well part of it imo, is structured. Drastically improve commercial operations, keep the repayments as realistically low as possible, equals maximising the £££ on the pitch.

But hey. What do I know.

talking out your hoop there Dave if you think we had to sell to buy. Stones wanted to leave, you know it, I know it, everyone on here knows it but you continue to peddle that line like it's gospel.

If/when Lukaku leaves I'm sure you will peddle the same old stuff.

Anyway this is the stadium thread so apologies for going off topic and I'll be more than happy to continue this conversation in the Moshiri thread before the match starts mate.

Cry arsing because there hasn't been a billion pound investment on and off the field. Sweet Jesus some people are just born with a glass half empty view.

Here's the facts:
Prime location in one of the most famous skylines in the world
Central to one of europes biggest property developments
A small manageable loan that will not affect normal business, unlike Arsenal and possibly spurs
A brand new stadium which will increase revenue by god knows how much
An architect leading on the project who knows the value of GP

Got a little chub on with all the excitement

The burden of proof lies with those saying things have changed mate.

To us doubters out here the events of last summer were merely a continuum of the past failed practices. Until that line is broken and we see a large net spend (apparently one of the beauties of the structured stadium deal I'm told is to facilitate squad spending) then you cant blame others for believing nothing has changed.

£80m debt restructuring was absolutely key to getting the credit worthiness of the club on a footing that would allow LCC to approve the SPV thing.

USM FF deal was key to getting our short term ability to work in the transfer market improved. (Jury is out on the actual results, granted.)

You simply cannot ride into town with a war chest and lob £££ around anymore. You have to do the groundwork first, and he is obviously preparing that. If you cant see, I cant help you.

But if the stadium build begins, we continue to ship out dead wood & improving the squad (without this huge positive net spend), you won't see that as a good thing & will be calling for Moshiri's head?
