New Everton Stadium

I know that we have been a top six club for the last number of years. I know that we are playing in the Europa Cup tonight.
I know that we have some of the best young talent around on our books. I know that we have an absolute state of the art training ground.

But, I know that you are referring to Goddison and yes you are right it is still the same old outdated stadium it was in the Johnson era.

tmgc. You are entitled to your opinon as I am to mine. I disagree with you.

I remember the Johnson era as I do several era before that. I am not sure how far your memory goes , as you say , it isn't grat anymore, but take it from someone whose memory is fine things were worse then than they are now.

Your memory can't be that good because I asked you a few questions earlier, and you completely forgot to answer them.

If you scroll back and read the post, maybe you could address them, all in your own good time like.

if you could answer mine that would be great, what "oblivion" did he save us from exactly?

Was that down to a bad manager or bad board?

I think that it was stated above. Saved us from Peter Johnson initially and then likely relegation under Walter Smith. I think that if we had been relegated then potentially we could have stayed down (done a Leeds) and gone into a death spiral. You can bet the RS would try to capitalise on any misfortune of ours to increase their fan/market base.

Unfortunately though, that is all he has to live on. What is the expiry date on living off this one and only great achievement?
People complain about Bill Kenwright , but the reason it has never gathered wide spread support amongst Evertonians is they live in the real world. If Kenwright was to go (and who wouldn't blame him if he did) who or what will replace him. With the state of Goodison and us not being a London Team the chances of a billionaire coming are slim.
Also Blue Union and KEIOC would tell us what they think the alternative was they would be more credible.

Calm down Bill. I like you and admire your passion for our Club.

By the way, without mentioning Peter Johnson in your reply, how about you tell me, say, maybe just 3 things you have done for Everton since you took over that have taken us forward.

Cheers.

Yours truly,
This Real World Evertonian

MJ.
I have often thought that the Peter Johnson era was a lost opportunity. I think that during his era the club was too volatile, too unpredictable.
We had the highs of signing players like Materazzi , Dacourt and others then their sale . We had the high of the Royle era culminating in the Cup win and then his leaving. I never wanted Walter Smith ,but thought he was a decent man in a job that was too big for him. I think there was a lack of stability in the club at a time when steady growth could have helped us gain more from the emerging premiership. Whatever about the other managers I thought Joe Royle was a good manager and given time would have built up the club. My memory is that he left beause the chairman wouldn't buy Dion Dublin for the manager , long before he became an established striker. We had spent far greater sums than that not that many months before but wouldn't support a manager who had already won a trophy.
This was the beginning of the modern era, the premiership when the "new" big clubs were born and we missed the boat.
I think even his biggest detractors would allow that Bill Kenwright has a good history with managers and how he supports them even in times of crisis.
I think if Peter Johnson could have brought the same level of stability at that time we might be a different club today.

We're Evertonians, unfortunately a lot of our fans do this. Oviedo is still dining out on the United goal and probably will do until he leaves/retires
