New Everton Stadium

I didn't know any Evertonian who was in favour of the Kirkby move, but apparently the majority voted for it.

That's why these online consultations are a load of crap. Just get on with it now.
Have to admit I vetoed it as felt the club did not provide enough info for me to make an informed decision, either way. Thank goodness it never happened as just being based outside the city would have ruined us.

Cannot believe the fan consultation ended up with a figure of 55,000. Every Evertonian I know was 60,000 with many including me following the 61878 line. If they are saying that is the result of the consultation, I simply don' believe it and they are massaging the results to suit.
You can add me to those who voted for 60,000. If this goes ahead the opportunity is there. Don't see 5,000 extra seats as a massive extra cost given the overall costs of the project, but I'm no expert.
And, I don't think it would be disastrous if its 55,000. Wouldn't want it less than that though. Main thing is we get it built in that location.
I grew up a mile from Goodison. My mum still lives a mile from the ground. Its going to be a wrench, but it has to happen. And, I might just look for a move nearby. Surely there'll be some residential developments (a flat perhaps)? Close to the City Centre with a waterfront stadium for The Blues. Dreamland for me. Get it done!

There WAS a majority but only of those allowed to vote, the disenfranchised and NEA'd either way outnumbered both the ayes and nays put together...again, iirc.

It was people with season tickets, iirc. I voted no, all my family with season tickets voted no, the lads in school with season tickets voted no.

I'm still very sceptical that a majority of match-goings Evertonians wanted Kirkby.

I have an Uncle who lives just a quarter of a mile away. Way back it was my Gran's house so parking was never a problem!!!!

I'd like 60k. Anything less just says we acknowledge our position behind the top six.

There just seems to be no logic in building small, unless there are genuine cost constraints but you have to speculate to accumulate. A waterfront stadium would be really special, so why look to limit the appeal and advantages from the off. We are way behind as it is, and have to use BMD if completed in every way possible, not just for football. Every seat filled is revenue. Every match and non-football event is revenue. We must be ambitious.

Saying that, if I had to choose, I'll still take a shiny new 52k BMD stadium ready in 2022 over nothing at all though, as with the pace of progress on this, I have to say I have joined the sceptics who think this is 50:50 at best currently. If that was the case, we really need an innovative and expandable design from Meis though and not just something bland. But conservative thinking on the capacity will lead to the same on the design and then Meis just tones down the impact of what he was/is working on.

If it's going to be done - do it properly. At least try to do it NSNO.

If they could rig Kirkby, they can rig BMD. I am sure there is a 'compelling business case' for a smaller capacity, but if Everton want to make a statement to the other clubs that we are not just here to make up the numbers, then aside from better performance, the stadium is that opportunity. Let's face it - last summer everybody was sitting up and taking notice of the signings - nobody (fans, media, EFC staff and Board) thought it would end up as bad a season as it has been. I had serious concerns about the back 4 but I never thought we would be regularly conceding 4s and 5s.

I still keep looking at that early season fixture list and wonder if we were proper stitched up. It was just as dodgy as the Villarreal CL draw. Just seemed incredible that Everton finally get some money that helps them be taken seriously and suddenly we are facing 4 of the top 6 before the middle of September.
