New Everton Stadium

surely if it was even a possibility of it falling apart because he hasn't honoured his contract then there would be huge legal ramifications for him

I assumed the press just assume it would cause problems as they don't realise how incompetent he actually is, and getting a replacement who was semi capable would more than cover anything required of him haha
Everton appear to be happy to let RE leave, if they weren't they'd be fighting to keep him so his importance to us moving forward can't be that great.
Personally i'd be very surprised if the man who claimed the kitbag deal was a great deal for Everton was so instrumental to the Satadium happening that his leaving would cast doubt on the entire development.

How about the wild idea that the stadium has stalled due to escalating costs/value of the pound and the departure of Elstone acts as a rather convenient excuse to explain this away?

Wouldn't be like Everton at all that would it?

Have to admit, Elstone leaving at the point of the process concerns me.

Not that him leaving if everything on track would scupper our plans, more that it could be an indication that he has failed in some of his key stadium objectives, which has killed the plan stone dead, and he's being pushed out for failure.

Usually pretty positive on the stadium position, but starting to feel ominous to me.

I’m bored of this debacle now. Only Everton could drag a stadium on for so long to the point where even their own supporters start to become not arsed.

Trust me, that's not true. Everything I read here I've heard said about our own stadium over the last 10 years. Seriously, this whole thread is de ja vu. I also read (but don't post in) the new stadium thread on theshedend forum, and a lot of Chelsea fans are getting bored with the time things are taking with their stadium too.

It's only because you take more notice of your own stadium that you think your club is unique in dragging things out. We've taken ages, Chelsea are taking ages, Wembley took a few goes to get to construction and then almost bankrupted the contractor, Arsenal's was reasonably quick but they ran out of cash and had to stop building, and look on the bright side - you're not West Ham.

Nothing makes me think this isn't going to happen. These things just take time.

Had an interesting conversation today with a colleague - Long and short of it was that Elstone has essentially gone (No surprises there) - but he was insinuating that his leaving has massive repercussions in regards to the stadium going ahead

Any ideas why this would be the case?

A project of this scale doesn’t crash and burn due to the likes of Elstone moving on.

He’s chatting bubbles

Good post but not what some want to hear.

Sorry, but that’s not the narrative we’re going for on here.

Reason and logic has no place on GOT for some mate. Be off with you and your fancy common sense!

If this is off, I think it will be a major turning point in Everton's history- and not in a good way. It would show a lack of direction at all levels of the club- and that may be terminal for the next generation or two.

Any chance you could change all the words in this, to say that if it hasn’t happened after a year of knowing which site it is then it probably won’t happen. You’ll make a lot of people on here very happy.....thanks......
