New Everton Stadium

I know but this explains all the talk of a lower capacity seeing as we have to pay for all of it. Don’t mind smaller capacity as long as it’s no less than 55k and we can expand in the future

Expanding a stadium costs much more than building it the right size in the first place.

Our average attendance at Wembley has been 68k.

Yeah, I'm bragging, but my point is I think our two clubs are pretty similar in terms of size. Assume the biggest difference is corporate (sounds like you're looking at 5k for your stadium compared with NWHL's 8k) and the magic number is 59,000. So 55-60k would be where I'd be aiming for, below that and you'll really be putting the squeeze on non-ST members, nevermind worrying about tourists.

It's good to get the views of an informed supporter of another big club.

Thanks for giving us your two penn'orth mate.

I think it'll happen, but it will be scaled back to what we were initially expecting.

Scaled back from wildly unrealistic expectations based on absolutely nothing official.

Dont get me wrong, I'm prone to giddy bouts of Evertonitis as well, but shouts of 65/70 are a bit wild, particularly with the space constraints. (unless we're allowed to encroach onto Nelson Dock for behind one of the goals)

55/57 is my guess.

I don’t think anyone seriously thought 65k-70k. An architect continually suggesting 60k+ and a CEO saying we can be more ambitious with the capacity is what started the expectation of 60k.

I doubt that

Its true. The cost per seat skyrockets on expansions.

Look across the park, they spent ~£120m on about 8k seats. £15k per seat.

We'd be looking at ~£500m for 55-60k seats. £8.5k per seat.

Their new Anfield road extension will likely be about another £80m, for a further few thousand seats, which will increase their £/seat.

Spurs supporters were not asked thier view on any part of the new stadium being built but I'm sure the single stand option was put forward to the club as something the fans would want (have no idea who by but I'm glad that opinion was listened to.)

In fact it turned out being a result having the single tier stand cos compared to the rest of the stadium this end of the stadium was easily the quickest to throw up (and the last part of the stadium to be started) and to see how much has been done since they knocked WHL down in the middle of May last year is unbelievable (at I would suspect is an unbelievable high amount of about £500 million.)

Hmm, interesting there was no consultation, do spurs fans not like that? I'm sure it's not as big a deal as the stadium designed is alright but there would have been uproar of it turned out to be crap with no fan consultation.

So Richard Knights of West Derby and John Whearty of Walton are after a full meeting to discuss the loan arrangement!
Knights I bet is a RS fan and would like to stop us but Whearty is worried about local businesses near GP failing, understandable. So no doubt he wants us to stay at GP but would he be agreeable to CPOs on Gwladys Street ans Bullens road for GP to be rebuilt, I think not. Everton moving to BMD will revitalise that area so can't have everything but should not Whearty be looking at GP to benefit the area?

Really fed up with the moaners about us moving a bit like Brexit, leavers and remoaners!

I doubt that

If you think about it for a minute it is easy to see why, during the initial build you have all the cranes, all the men on site, this is shared across every seat. Second time around it is only shared across the number of seats that are being added. It is also more difficult from a point of view of getting the materials onsite due to having to be careful of the existing structure and the fact that you have to take apart some of it (roof and facia) which leads to basically doing double work, undoing what cost x amount in the first place to accomplish.

This is usually made worse on a site that is restricted which BM falls into. Look at the space around the Etihad and it still cost City 60 million to expand by 6000 seats.

have you seen that Knights tweets, of course he is a RS, what a deplorable excuse for a person, so petty and condescending

echo do an article explaining for the idiots how the council are not paying for the stadium, and he retweets it saying "is david prentice actually a journalist or does he just regurgitate whatever the club say to him"

regurgitating??? your in politics Knight, pot kettle mate

Still just dont get the obsession with the final capacity. 50k, 55k or 60k, what does it really matter ??!!

Point is we will be more attractive to sponsors, tourists, coorp and events. That will be the case even if we are in a 50k stadium!!

If we build a 55k stadium and we get 13 sell outs and 6 around 50k does that mean 55k isn't the right size?

Id say it is as more than half of the games played there have sold out.

If we dont sell out in a 60k+ (which i dont think we would) then its clearly not the right size.

But this is the issue the club has - its hard to nail down a figure that everyone would be happy with. We cant go building a massive stadium for the sake of it being bigger - but i do think a lot of our fans are using it as a 'd*ck measuring' contest wanting it to be bigger than Liverpool etc.
