New Everton Stadium

They gain Evertonians still attending games in their droves and buying memberships. Our crowds have never been so consistently high during the PL era, than since Moshiri spun the myth that we’re an ambitious club that is going places, the new stadium being central to that.

Once the stadium dream collapses, which it will because we’ve got no marks running the club, our crowds will suffer badly.

It's a load of nonsense, the area we are building on should not be considered a heritage site, it's a disused Dock and warehouse. It screams of a power move somewhere down the line. I mean there's 1 thing supporting buildings of historical significance, pyramids, temples etc as have already been stated, even the graces and the Albert Dock if you wish, but I'm not having it that all the development that has occurred in Kings Dock and Queens Dock and beyond, the development of Crosby and Seaforth, are all fine, as is the abundance of factories, plants and decaying warehouses, but a piece of wasteland in a discarded area of industrial land is somehow a threat to Heritage status.

The entire thing hangs on a wall, a wall which barely anyone but Costco members and lorry drivers will ever see. And the idea of it is preposterous. You can't build anything here because something was built here once before. If they stuck to that principal with much of what Liverpool was even 15 years ago, a lot of people who have only been here more recently would be in for a massive shock.

Well they "care" as in having the ground full is better than being half empty, which it hasnt been for as long as I can remember. Kendal dark days probably.

But if the gate dropped by 500 cos we were not getting a new ground, they couldnt care less. And I say 500 cos thats the absolute maximum that it would drop by.

Easier to get tickets when I bring my dad and older kids. Time to fire up a twitter burner.

I have no idea mate. I get the impression that this area of the docks kinda got UNESCO status almost by accident, as in the famous Liverpool vista is worth protection, and by default, the rest of the docks were lumped in with it.

That said, I am far from a UNESCO expert. It may well be that they granted protection to keep their influence over future development, hence them having meetings and stuff now.

Just seems strange and rather sad, that a once in a life time chance to redevelop a deprived derelict area and turn it into what could be a vibrant, thriving waterfront area, generating investment and improving the look of the Liverpool waterfront, could be basically stopped by so called custodians. Would be a disgrace if this was prevented, not just for Everton, but for the whole of Liverpool as well.

How would you feel about Rupert's Tower getting knocked down to build a petrol station?
Yes, it's "just a wall", however the principle behind heritage sites is absolutely not something to get rankled by, however much of an annoyance you perceive it to be.
