I like the idea of taking some part of the pitch to the new ground and leaving some behind, symbolically linking the two eras. They'll never take the memories of Goodison away from us, and we'll make new memories at Bramley-Moore, but we'll always be Everton.I've got a cousin whose ashes were spread on Goodison years ago. Although, I know none of them are still likely to be on the pitch I still wonder what the club's plans are regarding this issue? Might it be an idea to dig up the final pitch at GP, turn it to dust and bring it to BMD and put it in the part of the dock not filled in (between the ground and the multi-storey car park)? Somehow, if the area where the pitch is at GP is to be turned into housing or a kids' play area, it just doesn't seem fitting to me. What do others think?
I personally also like the idea that people will still be kicking about a football on the location of where the Goodison Park pitch once was. I don't want to go all Blue Bill, but the idea of generations of blues playing there plays to my sentimental side.
As for those whose ashes were scattered there, that's a tricky one. Perhaps some corner will remain a memorial to the old lady once she has gone and that can be a place where we can remember those who played and supported there.
