New Everton Stadium

Yes, well that would be ok. It doesn't look like they can corral anyone to do that though.

You know my longer game viewpoint on all this mate. Nothing in that game has changed. More than happy to have that view challenged, and as I have said many times, it is purely my own view.

If I am wrong, well, not entirely sure why Moshiri and his mate rocked up in the first place. It certainly wasnt to make serious coin from Everton FC in isolation. Unless they have been on some serious drugs.

Moshiri has done EXACTLY what Kenwright / Gregg / Earl did before him: get a scheme together and hope that a perfect storm happens this time around and it works.

If not, they've managed to placate the fanbase and got an easy ride for a few seasons (if this stadium wasn't "in play" do you think attitudes to Moshiri would be a sanguine as it is? Nope).

I know for a fact, 100% as of about 5/6 months ago there was no funding.

That might have changed or they might now be in the early stages of financing , I don't know. But I was told a while back that they had engaged in several avenues for financial support and each time not got past the first port of call. Basically there was little or no interest.

Again, that might have changed now.
YAWN RAWK

I accept it looks that way, depending on when you start looking. If you take a step back, even ignore its Everton, and ask yourself why did Usnamov but Moshiris Arsenal shares? Why did Moshiri rock up, out of the blue, at a football club with zero connection to, in a city that has the potential to make him and Usnamov serious cash?

All it (Liverpool Waters) needs is a statement development at the far end of it to kick it all off.

Great news everyone.

I have identified a fantastic 10 bedroomed gaff in Caldy, a snip at 4.5 million quid.

I've consulted all my family and friends, and they all agree that it would be perfect for me.

I'm off to the estate agents tomorrow, and with an annual salary of £30k, what can possibly go wrong?

;)

If Northern Rock were still going they'd have probably got you a 4.5m mortgage on your 30k a year job ;)

So he could try and buy Arsenal. He did make a few offers to Kroenke. Why bother with that if you don't want to own it if the deal goes through?

Well you answered your own question there.

You would presume potential financiers would want to see their plans for the land, what it would look like, likelihood of planning being granted etc.

Yes and no.

People financing the stadium won't care too much about what it looks like ( aesthetics, from their POV, will have little effect on cash ) , or the likelyhood of getting Planning Permission ( no PP = no funding requirement )

What they will care about are things like :-

  • Expected build cost
  • ~90% worst case contingency overrun
  • Details of who would be asked to cover cost overruns ( club, contractor etc )
  • Details of how the money being borrowed is guaranteed against
  • Interest rate, term and type ( fixed rate, or linked, for example, to LIBOR )
  • Anticipated cashflow from stadium under normal operating conditons ( normal = stay in Premier League )
  • Anticipated effect on cashflow if relegated
I believe ( mostly guesswork, no inside knowledge ), that pretty much everything is in place, but one of the milestones of one of (a) submitting plans and (b) getting permission need to be met before everyone's happy to go public.

Mind you, it wouldn't kill anyone for an announcement to be made on the lines of "Financing is agreed in principle up to a sum of n million, dependent on the submitted design meeting with planning approval".

Only if you look at it as an investment. Rich people earn huge amounts of money that doesn't mean they don't have to spend it wisely. Owning a Football Club is often an ego trip. You get recognition, kudos and get pleasure from something you enjoy. It is a bit like buying a huge house, a ridiculously expensive car or a yacht. It is often as much a status symbol as a way to earn money.

Owning a Premier League Club is like joining an exclusive Billionaires Club.

Thats fair, to a point. Down here in Bristol, a local billionaire, Steve Lansdown, has invested buckets into Bristol City, Bristol Rugby, and a basket ball team; John Hall sort of thing in Newcastle years ago.

But he is born and bred Bristolian, his business is here, and he is a fan of the football and rugby teams in particular. That is the same thing as John Moores back in the day.

Moshiri might have had a conversion to all things Everton. He might have asked his mate to lob him £300m for his Arsenal shares for an ego trip. Or. The two of them saw an opportunity that owning Everton and developing a stadium could unlock a large piggy bank.

I aint right. Its just my long held theory. But I think it makes more sense.

Sorry if I can across a bit tetchy there.

They've kept to their timeline because they've never announced any timeline regarding funding, just planning. They don't have to announce it but I've asked before in this thread what they would gain from not divulging that information compared to the good will they will generate by informing us the funding is in place.

When this was announced nearly, what, 4 years ago? I had assumed funding was going to be moving quickly because at the time it was announced that the council would be securing funding for us. Then Brexit happened and the funding requirement jumped by 66%. The council stated it was no longer looking at partnering with us for funding and since then we haven't been told anything besides they're examining their options.

That's been the status quo for years now and I'm losing faith with the club and this project because it's the elephant in the room nobody has addressed.
Whats with the 4 years fella ?

Bramley Moore Dock was aquired November 2017 , its 2 years not 4.

And what makes you think Moshiri has a pressing need to inform Jake off the internet about the inner workings including financing the stadium build ?
Moshiri (who specialises in finance) and his associates will only inform anyone outside of that circle when the time is right and more importantly the stadium deal is done.....and rightly so.

2 years fella....2 years.....not long to wait now.
