New Everton Stadium

Enjoyed watching that video and a great idea regarding the stadium with external TV screens. Full capacity game but 100's possibly 1000's more could enjoy the pre and post match atmosphere in the fan zone. All within the confines of BMD and the additional revenue it could create. Even on non-match days other games could be shown.

My main issue is it's outside, I hate our fan zone for being basically an outdoor bar, why would you want to go there pre game? For a live singer? It's freezing and will be worse next to the river.

Would love a decent in door area with bars to build atmosphere, not a plot of land with portable bars and catering, temporary toilets for gods sake.

That's the assumption, but from what I understand the planning application that's been submitted has no reference to safe standing sections.

And as has been posted and re-iterated countless times on this and other forums the current thinking within the authorities - H&S, police, footballing and governmental - is that if/when safe standing is permitted, it's almost certainly only going to be on a 1:1 ratio - one seat out, one standing position in, so a 52,000 seat stadium will become for example 46,000 seats and 6.000 standing = 52,000 capacity.

The club, or more correctly the previous Deputy Chairman Keith Harris, suggested possible expansion from 52,000 to 60,000 but, no explanation of how this would be achieved has ever been forthcoming.

Furthermore, Dan Meis, the architect has suggested BMD will be a one-off build, with practically no scope for physical expansion to accommodate a larger capacity... and he personally doesn't advocate building BMD to more than 52,000 either.

Much of this, I believe, Is due to stadium design capacity rules and regs. A stand that is designed with a concourse and amenities to serve 10k people will not be able to serve 15k if they stand up. Its ⁰isn't all about terrace space per se, it's more about existing provisions. A stand that is designed to hold 17k can have rail seating at an increased ratio, so long as the seated capacity is below the 17k design capacity.

That’s usually a problem for conversions rather than new builds. I’d imagine Meis will design the concourses and facilities to allow for any planned increase. If the desire to increase capacity is real and not just something to placate the fans.

Yeah, that's my point. I would wager that the rules generally being accepted on here are based around terrace conversions of existing stadiums. There hasnt yet been a stadium who's concourse has been oversized to allow for bigger attendances than the seated design. Unless Tottenham have done so.

For example, try getting another 2k into the Lower Gwladys at half time. Or try getting another 2K out of Lower bullens at the final whistle.

Not sure we'd be allowed admit unlimited numbers to watch games on screens outside the stadium, would have to be ticketed for safety reasons. I believe there are wind 'buffers' included in the design now that were not there in the earlier design? One would expect these are a feature of any fanzine area too. As for the portaloo solution.. you'd hope that won't transpire.

The only number I've seen mentioned is an extra 1,800 being possible (at the front of the south stand) if safe standing is approved at ratios greater than 1:1. So I guess it's something we've taken into account but I don't know any details, and it's not a huge increase anyway.

The numbers you're talking about (possibly an extra 10k, I'm still sceptical about that) will definitely need big allowances in the design of concourses/entrances/exits/toilets etc etc.

Will never happen IMO.

just looked it up mate 2nd sept 1892 Bolton
I'd have Bolton in as a final memorial game at Goodison.

USM Bramley Moore Stadium inaugral game should be a stellar name. I like the idea of our Chilean cousins being the opening game as well. Someone mentioned Juventus, and its that kind of a club (ie Bayern or Real or Barca etc) that should be the right tone for what we want to do in that stadium.

I watched the video a few pages ago and there was a reference to Beckham's stadium in Florida and how there will be a giant screen out side allowing fans to watch the game. Interesting idea. I know our climate is hardly the same but I wonder if there could be someway a few thousand fans who haven't got tickets could be allowed to watch the match on screens in the fan zone at Bramley-Moore (well sheltered from the elements, of course)? Tickets could be sold at half the price of seats in the ground and they'd be spending on food and drink. Crackers? Maybe. Just because it hasn't been tried before doesn't mean it wouldn't work.
