New Everton Stadium

Esk has turned so anti Everton it’s unreal

what happened to that guy ??

Think he's alluding to this, for the reason it will be called in. I think if I remember rightly, they can over rule it if the project is deemed more beneficial to the wider area, which I think we can agree it is, as opposed to having an unused dock.

That may be what takes the 3 months though.

"However, even with the charm offensive from Mr Anderson, heritage body Historic England, dubbed “Hysteric England” by one business leader, is pushing to have Everton’s plan to build a 52,000-seat arena at Bramley Moore Dock in the city’s northern docklands ‘called in’ by the Secretary of State.

Despite Everton making changes to the stadium design after months of negotiations, the heritage body is still not happy and is recommending the Secretary of State refuse the plan, unless its demands are met.

It’s main issue is the plan to infill the Grade II-listed Bramley Moore Dock, within property giant Peel’s Liverpool Waters scheme, which was still used as a working dock until last year. It said: “The loss of the water would result in substantial harm to the significance of Bramley-Moore Dock and cause harm to the World Heritage Site.”

I recall this thread starting back in 2014, i said to myself that with any hope 2020 might be realistic, seems like yesterday. Not a Spade in the ground yet, for those working on getting the planning sorted it must be a source of pure frustration. Dan Meis's drawings are probably outdated by now.

Those guys at Historic England need better glasses. They say:

“The loss of the water would result in substantial harm to the significance of Bramley-Moore Dock and cause harm to the World Heritage Site.”

But quite clearly in the picture I can see water in the dock next to the west stand. I'm hoping on a technicality that makes the point they raise null and void.

They're kopites just making things awkward for us we will get it through in the end just delaying the inevitable imo .if is was the other shower across the park different story.

Anyone else depressed with how old this thread is, April 11th 2014! ? Jesus Christ. Let's call it what it is, Bramley Moore is not historic in any real sense, people are not queuing up to go there and bask in its historical significance.
Building a stadium there actually makes people go there and see the historical element like the clock tower. In this country we seem to struggle with preserving things just for the sake of it. Rather than finding a balance between preserving the good and making a space useful, for the current generation and future generations

According to the esk, BMD will almost certainly be called in and handed over to the Secretary of State (Housing, Communities, Local Gov) to then take at least a further 3months to assess. He is citing objections from WHS and the project scale as the main factors.

Hope he is wrong.

That man is a disturbed freak.

Think this is one of those things we're always going to be sceptical about. Even the day of the first match you wouldn't believe the stadium was built, or you'd think it belonged to someone else and Kenwright messed the lease up or something.

One of those where if it happens, great, if it doesn't, no surprise, but not worth building any hopes whatsoever about it as it's more than likely to result in nothing again.

Nearly seven years later, still this ^

If he's right (I doubt it) then Everton fans need to make their voices heard re LCC taking the mick. They could have passed it over to the secretary of state months ago.

As useful as a chocolate teapot they are.
He’s got a 50/50 chance of guessing this, anyone could of said that. What else has he got right in the last 2 years that we all didn’t know anyway?

I’m don’t think there’s a solid decision yet, it might still be in the balance perhaps no one on LCC or regional government want to be seen to be committing large funds to football when there’s so much money needed elsewhere due to the pandemic
