New Everton Stadium

Sorry I should have said why I mentioned about what would happen to the old site, it was because the heritage fella on Radion Merseyside the other day was using that / will be using that as one of the main arguments against the move on Tuesday (well sounded that way to me). Saying that any move away would leave a deprived area in an even worse state.

Has he not seen The Goodison Park Legacy Project then ?

The economy is on its arse, people out of work all over the place. As if the government are gonna turn down a privately funded £500m project in one of the most deprived areas of the country. UNESCO can keep their status, it makes no odds to the city anyway.
how many people knew much about the WHS before the stadium news? Not many I;'d wager, this is getting done.

If they are looking solely at what will be good for the area, to invigorate a dilapidated part of Liverpool, good for jobs, enhance the waterfront there is no way it shouldn't get through on Tuesday. Has anything in concrete been put in place for what will happen to the old stadium site, heard different things but not much really.

Additionally, The Royal Liver Buildings and the Cunard Building were both built on historic docks, but in the name of progress...

"Tear them down and fill it back up with water - how dear they desecrate our city with that eyesore of modern architecture, they'll never be loved"

Excerpt taken from the Historical Society Weekly 1911.

OK I'm telling porkies but I bet someone had that view back then!

He obviously hasn't and he'll be one of the ones putting forward arguments against. That needs to be highlighted at that meeting mate, I can't remember his name but he was on about 5 cause I was driving from work on Radio Merseyside on Thursday.

The objections he had were: Unesco and the walls ( I thought he meant the visible dock walls, but another poster on here said it is the actual dock walls, mostly underwater FFS), the effect it woulf have on Everton (the Goodison site), and how it could possibly be financed (that is a worry but does planning take that into account at this stage).

On bbc only last week how Desperate the government is to recoup loses from the devastation of Covid 19. They are scraping the barrel suggesting that the public will use their hard earned savings to help rebuild the country and kick start large scale building projects by offering Investment Bonds.

This project doesn't need the public to dip into their own pockets to generate job's and boost the economy. It just needs the green light and the spade is in the ground.

Feeling really confident.

That needs to be highlighted at that meeting mate

Given that the meeting is for both projects AND that one of the s106 obligations Everton are being held to is to make sure the Goodison development goes ahead, it won't need highlighting. It'll be discussed loads. The legacy project is central to BMD going ahead, it'll be a legal obligation on the club once both projects are approved.

Just had a quick look on the club's website. There's no way they won't be putting a strong case for what they're planning with the current stadium site. They're already building up to Tuesday and I'll be amazed if some of the people in the video don't also speak at the planning meeting.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry. Looks like this is well covered.

I just listened to it on the Iplayer, it was Wedneday just after the 5 o'clock news.
Deffo a kopite, the guy didn't have a clue what he was talkin about and calls himself an expert lol

I remain sceptical over this entire project ever getting off the ground. There is just too many moving parts in play and each one represents an opportunity for the club to do an ‘Everton that’. ..I am 100% certain they will do an ‘Everton that’
