New Everton Stadium

Couldn't watch it but sounds like they were more than prepared for every question and scenario..
It was extremely well prepared. As mentioned earlier, taking out time, talking to all concerned parties, tweaking designs where possible, extensive consultations etc.

All led us to todays clean sweep.
Does this have to be done before government approval?
No, funding isn't part of the planning approvals process. They do usually put a time limit on work starting. (permission will lapse if we miss the deadline)
I have an interesting piece of trivia around that very thing.
Go on....
They incorporating the clock tower?

No, but I imagine someone will. I noticed they have propsed a 'river walk' along the Mersey back into town that goes right by the clock. (that walk will be grim in winter!)
Who retrieves the ball if it leaves the pitch and is kicked in the river?

The ball buoy

Thank you, I’m here all week.
@Joey66 - He's after your crown.
There has been quite extensive acoustic modelling from within Goodison park, which means that a LiDAR scan is captured and sounds are recorded. Now, for much of it it will be audio pulses that are measured within an empty stadium, in order to use within the digital model that's created from the scans and effectively measure/record/reproduce acoustic performance....

Anyway, that's all well and good for use within the model, but a bit rubbish when you try to listen back to it within an acoustic anechoic chamber, so they use a recording captured with full range 3d microphones to model as per what the pulses describe. The recording that was captured was taken when Everton faced Bournemouth and went from 0-1 to 2-1 thanks to Niasse. So the Niasse second goal is what designers were hearing when being played back the model of how it will sound within BMD. Niasse has played a bigger part in our new stadium than you'd think. Forever with us.
Ace. Cheers.

Hope to make it back to the UK ans Goodison atleast one last time before the end. Will be so sad once she's done. Sure has its pitfalls being such an old stadium but on those winter night kick offs with the atmosphere bouncing theres nowhere like it. Deserves European football there again and hopefully we can win a pot before we leave.

West Ham fan here. Goodison is one of the last pukka stadiums. I urge you to fight the move with all your souls. Go for the 82 million revamp. Trust me, you will regret spending half a billion for a crap modern tourist trap
Thanks for four comments. I think we’re aware of the problems you have had.
Its not a decision that has been taken lightly, or hastily. We’ve considered several sites. This location will be amazing and the ground will have a traditional feel. They have gone for a claustrophobic atmosphere with seats close to the pitch and quite tightly packed. They have pushed that to the limit.

The architect explained that the stadium was like a greyhound, designed for one purpose. They haven’t made it multifunctional, so there aren’t any compromises that detract from the football experience.

We’ll all be sad to leave Goodson. It’s such a historic old ground, but without demolishing large parts of it, it’s impossible to do much with it. It will be a passing of an era though.

Be interesting to see how many season ticket holders they allow at BMD.

From a atmosphere perspective the more the better however I do feel the club would miss a trick financially by not having a few thousand on general sale with a big club shop on site for your average uni student new to the city or visitor on business/travel to take a game in.

Would be interesting to see if the capacity does end up going up to the 54/55k mark before its fully built.

It's going to be really difficult for us non locals who get to 2-3 games a season or even less to actually get to a game now. We have no chance this season, 21-22 will be full as demand will be massive plus i can see the winter games being reduced capacity to help keep covid down & 23-24 will be the swansong which again, i will have no chance as demand for our last season will be through the roof. Damn, just hit me. I'm sad now.
