the issues are lot wider than the stadium; it’s to do with “friends of friends” getting preferential treatment for various jobs and certain departments being “forced” to use certain contractors going outside of our own procurement rules
a prime example being a construction firm, well known in Liverpool being given all the major jobs around the city at inflated quote, yet not completing those jobs to the standard required
or certain property developers having almost every deal green-lit despite concerns over completion due to lack of funds.
Liverpool has the largest amount of incomplete developments in the country. At one time there were 26 huge projects that were abandoned leaving half developed sites. Developers were rinsing unsuspecting investors for “off plan” money before shutting down due to lack of funds.

The deal with EFC is far too big, we and Peel are not some tinpot local developer who wants to make a quick buck. This is a serious peace of business which is going to change the face of massively overlooked and derelict area of the city; second to that it also forms part of Peel L&P 50 year Liverpool Waters master plan.
