To be fair, the arena, the museum and the office/apartment blocks behind the riverfront are the real reason and it has nothing to do with redevelopment of a derelict dock a few miles up the river. Dresden - still a popular and stunning city to visit - lost it because of a bridge over the river.

And the drawings of peels fantasy skyscrapers that won't be built anyway.

My mate parks outside BMD in the daytime with a ladder in his van to rent to the hordes of tourists to look over the wall. A pound a minute he charges. He's retiring next year.

International cruise liner terminal already planned and will be at the north end of Princes Dock with a hotel opposite. And there is zero chance of an arena/convention/exhibition centre when we've literally just built all of those at Kings Dock.

I think it's vital to keep history and heritage alive for future generations, but surely that history is the STORY of the Docks and surrounding areas, not the crumbling infrastructure.
The Docks and the part they played in the development of the city is integral to it's history, but you don't need to see them to understand that , just as you don't need to witness the wartime bombings to understand what people went through during the blitz.

We will always gonna get the blame ,especially by the red half of the city, personally its the buildings by the liver buildings that are awful and the car park ffs, would of happened anyway. At least the stadium is being built in conjunction of the surroundings not like some monstrosities off the strand.

Pier head in front of the Cunard Building should be the one blamed not our stadium way up out of the way. Not to mention the gallery.

It's definitely a very minor element of bringing tourists here. Only worrying thing is that losing that status would allow some real eyesores to be put up on the waterfront

See above, that already happened! Don't think they can put much more in front of the graces though. This news may allow peel to build bigger in the central dock area though.

Basically don't slam the door on the way out.

Regeneration of miles of wasteland and the generation of thousands of new jobs in a city still recovering from the run down of it's principal industry, is far more important than an award from an elitist up it's own backside organisation. If it hadn't been now it would have been the next major development to be announced. Liverpool may have lost it's World heritage status, but it hasn't lost it's heritage. That can never be taken away and Liverpool has more of it than any other city in the UK outside of London.
