Maybe we could get it on the cheap, rather than for free, by contributing to the cost. The RS wouldn't be able to lay claim to it either if we did this. 2026 is a long time away though.

It would have to be done like City did, pay the fitout cost from an Athletic stadium to a football one. But, we wouldn't have the new stadium till season 2027/28 at the earliest, possibly the season after.

Or hire Karen Brady to ensure the tax payers pay the £700m refit costs!

Bit funny reading back to the beginning of this thread now 2 years on. More so for the fact at one point Elstone announced plans to build a stadium before Anderson pretty much called his bluff almost immediately on it.

2 years on, still no sign of a stadium..... Weird that.

Around 20 million I think, not a vast amount in the scheme of things. Plus whatever the lease fee per year to the council.

It's probably electioneering by Joe Anderson, the election is next month so the timing of this is very suspicious to say the least, take it with a pinch of salt. I don't think we will be biding personally, he's simply sent a letter to somebody who'll be unable to reply until after the election because of purdah. I'd like to be proven wrong.
