New Everton Stadium

We could always do what Glasgow did with Hampden Park for the Commonwealth games , they built a temporary raised platform with the running track etc.. On it !
This way we could still build a world class stadium on or near the city centre which could then be used for any Commonwealth Games bid !

Took over seven months to convert Hampden park to accommodate the running track.

Yes I appreciate that , however , we would be doing it the other way round, get bid accepted , design and build stadium with track and field upgrade factored into the design.
Stadium could be part funded by games and EFC and up and running a few years before games.
If it was built on the Central/Trafalgar docks they could even branch a monorail from the Northern Line into the Dock area!

It's possible, wouldn't be easy but it would definitely solve the white elephant issue of an Athletics stadium in the middle of the city.

Monorail would definitely secure the games for Liverpool. Think it could be a great event for the city.

Absolute sod's law this. Pre-Moshiri, I thought a Commonwealth Games Stadium a la Man City was the most likely way we would get a new stadium given we didn't have a pot to pee in. Now Moshiri is on board, I'd rather have nothing to do with this if it means waiting 12 years plus for the stadium to become available

Just out of interest mate what sort of timeframe would you find realistic for us to be moved in and playing in a new or completely renovated stadium?

If we are to benefit from a successful Commonwealth Games bid then it is inconceivable a new stadium would be anywhere other than the waterfront (There is no way an event like that will be in the suberb backwaters) but looking at this pic of the Peel Liverpool Waters scheme and the waterfront there does not seem to be any space available or unused that is WALKING distance to and from the city centre area which is where I would want us to be if we HAD to move (I prefer we stay at Goodison and redevelop by the way).

Us taking over a modified generic athletics bowl stadium (like City and West Ham) would be more tolerable if the location was at the very heart of the city centre or right next to it. I would want every visitor to our great city to see our new ground in their faces not hidden away so that it can only be seen by locals travelling down from Bootle or Crosby! :)

* zooms into where the Echo Arena is *

* weeps *

Given England and Scotland have held it in recent years, I'd be very surprised if England won it again over Wales, especially a city so close to a previous host.
