New Everton Stadium

Just out of interest mate what sort of timeframe would you find realistic for us to be moved in and playing in a new or completely renovated stadium?
Given Moshiri has only been on board for 5 minutes and made no statement at all with regards to stadium plans, I haven't got the foggiest

I'd like to think we could be in a new stadium within 5 years but I've never designed, funded or built a stadium so I've got to be honest and say you're asking the wrong person

If we are to benefit from a successful Commonwealth Games bid then it is inconceivable a new stadium would be anywhere other than the waterfront (There is no way an event like that will be in the suberb backwaters) but looking at this pic of the Peel Liverpool Waters scheme and the waterfront there does not seem to be any space available or unused that is WALKING distance to and from the city centre area which is where I would want us to be if we HAD to move (I prefer we stay at Goodison and redevelop by the way).

Us taking over a modified generic athletics bowl stadium (like City and West Ham) would be more tolerable if the location was at the very heart of the city centre or right next to it. I would want every visitor to our great city to see our new ground in their faces not hidden away so that it can only be seen by locals travelling down from Bootle or Crosby! :)

Simple, build it on the river. No cost for the land, put it where you want, it wouldn't get more iconic than that.......

The Liverpool Waters scheme is a concept, they are therefore looking for partners and interest to make it reality.

Whilst there initial outline planning permission didn't include a stadium it wouldn't rule one out in the future. The land along side the river by stanly docks and south to Costco would be an ideal location for walking in to town and the Sandhills station IMO. If Peal and our new owner get talking it could make it a very attractive proposition, for both Everton and Peel IMO. Will it happen is anyone's guess.

.....Edge Lane cinema is closing, perhaps this is all part of the master plan to build a new stadium on that huge and infrastructure friendly footprint.
Unfortunately not. The Edge Lane redevelopment was masterminded by the now deceased Isle of Man businessman Albert Gubay.

His company owned the land the old Skelly's car showroom was on, the small business park with Blockbuster and the retail park down the road.

Knowing that with the redevelopment of Edge Lane Drive that planners desired extra space and for it all to regenerated he kept hold of the land.

Pretty much fell into disarray and became extremely tatty with most units empty, but they still wanted it so he simply refused to invest in the land.

Eventually they had to come to a deal where he and his company made a tidy profit. A stadium certainly isn't in there plans...

I'm so concerned with our on field situation at the moment I haven't looked in here for weeks.
Priority needs to be the on field success for me before the stadium.

Sorry, really can't follow the logic of that one. We have done nothing to the stadium for 20 odd years and won the sum total of nowt. Success will follow when we show we are on the up as a club and redevelop/move so as to increase turnover/profile and spend on players.

Well sorry mate, but I am disgusted with seeing Everton looking like 16th at season's end.
I couldn't care less if we play at Tranmere's ground if we are going to continue being rubbish on field.
Get the on field situation with Manager and players sorted first. That is my priority.

As has been pointed out by others, the day of the retail park looks over. We have one at Aintree and one at Speke and that might well be enough. Moshiri taking over changes the game, I think. Let's just give it a year or so and see what happens. I am starting to warm to Edge Lane. There is a railway line at the back and a station could be built to shuttle fans back and forth every few minutes from Lime Street on a match day, especially as there is new investment in the signalling system there.

You miss my point (disagree with it by all means). My argument is that it is impossible for us to challenge again until we have a stadium fit for purpose at either a new location or at L4 4EL.
