Back when the Tesco dome was a thing, people mocked the hospitality marquee out the back of the Park End where the away dressing rooms are now.
I said that if if we were playing Bayern or Barca in the CL quarter finals, tickets would be going for brewsters and big wigs would be crawling in broken glass to get in that tent they were laughing at.
Get the team right, consistantly successfully 2nd , 3rd, 4th, right over a few years and the money would flood in.
But that was the hard part.
We need a new ground because the Old one is past its use by date.
New ground - old ground, its the team inside that matters
Moshiri might be getting us a new ground, and hoping to make a tidy sum from it. But he's failed badly on the other half of the deal.
The money did eventually flood in but was wasted.
But Goodison wasnt the problem, as such, not having the monrry to compete was the problem.
The only thing Goodison was the cause of was the fact we needed a new ground.

It was just a throw-away reference in conversation, I think. He remembered it was greater than 50,000 and less than 60,000 so plumped himself in the middle.

Yes and no, for instance would City have been taken over by the sheiks had they still been at Maine Road?

Yes we could survive at Goodison for the foreseeable as the cost of building compared to naming rights and extra income won't drastically change our circumstances but to give us any hope of challenging it is a must to move.
