New Everton Stadium

Joe Anderson has apparently said on the radio tonight that Walton Hall Park is a no go

From the echo:

Question: If elected Mayor, will you stop all planned development, whether it be a stadium, shops, houses or anything else on Walton Hall Park? My vote depends on this issue

Joe Anderson

"Everton not been able to come up with proposals and therefore nothing is happening with Walton Hall Park

If you read what Joe Andrson has said, he hasn't said its a "no go". He has said Everton haven't submitted a proposal. He has left it open to interpretation, Everton could submit a proposal and it could be accepted.

True.

Still makes me think its not the first option, if we are planning to improve the stadium at all (which we surely are).

Without Moshiri i would say WHP would be off the table, financially we were not in a position to fund the stadium or get in potential partners good enough to help with it.

I think WHP is still very much on the table, looking at them leaked visuals form a month or so ago, that where only uploaded at the beginning of March says to me everything is very much ticking on behind the scenes. I think the preference will be new stadium, then redevelopment if at all possible and if a suitable site isn't found.

See I'd go the other way, without Moshiri if we were ever going to be able to build a new stadium it would have had to include some sort of "gifted land" from the council and all the benefits of a housing and retail being tied into the development which while would have helped the regeneration of the area might not have specifically helped Everton in the long run.

Now we are in a much stronger position financially I'd like to think that we would be much more selfish for want of a better term and build a stadium that caters to our needs as a football club and maximises our earning potential

Joe keeping everyone updated which is fine by me.
Hopefully Everton FC will be leading the communication in the summer via the new board.

I think the way it is so carefully phrased means that WHP is definitely not finished.
If there was no future for the project then Joe Anderson would have said so as it would have possibly meant votes for him.
All he did was repeat what he said a few months ago. He should have been asked what his approach would be if the new board were now to submit a proposal.

Not suggesting a redevelopment is the right way to go, however just seen this about how Barcelona are redeveloping, stadium concept is nice!

Full roof on the Nou Camp, will be very weird!!

Them tiers at the top will be rediculous! I went the Nou camp last year, very back row! Couldnt see a thing

I've been, in 2009, did the full stadium tour, it is an immense stadium already, will be even better once this is finished. but I agree that being sat towards the back is like watching Sensible Soccer, the players are so far away, but it's about the atmosphere more than anything.

Still makes me laugh that they have a 20,000 seater across the road for the "B" team to play in! Which is better than some premierleague grounds

For us I think the only option will be to move, we need a multifunctional stadium, which will pay for itself on non matchdays and for that, ideally you need a bigger footprint than we have and I can't see the council doing CPO's for us

For match viewing experience, the Nou Camp is the worst stadium I've ever been to. Atmosphere was crap too. Don't believe the hype.
