New Everton Stadium

Yeah they're not huge figures. Not in football terms anyway.

But nobody ever claimed that's how the stadium was gonna be financed.

Will naming rights be used as part of a repayment plan? Almost certainly, but they won't be financing the stadium. The poster seemed to be under the impression that USM were exclusively financing the build.

I don't think that anyone believes that EFC could finance a £500m stadium under their own steam alone, or anything remotely close. We're bottom of the financial fairplay league and have predominantly posted losses for years.

To date, we still haven't officially secured any funding for the stadium construction (years into the project). I think it's fair to assume that the only way this stadium is getting built is by a massive injection (direct or otherwise) from our owner or his backers (via sponsorship).

The fact that it still hasn't been revealed how this is all supposed to stack up financially is a real concern. That must surely only be increased if the expected stadium sponsor (to the tune of £30m for the opportunity alone) is now out of the equation?

Exactly this, so people have a right to be concerned.

The silence from Everton, once again is deafening!

Our PR these days is tanked!

i very much doubt langs are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, millions has been given to them already, and things are still moving

No-one is suggesting the Laing O'Rourke are doing anything "out of the goodness of their hearts". Over £100m plus has been put towards the job. There is next to nothing above the ground yet, so I would be surprised if that and the council grant has been exhausted yet. It is not inconceivable that further funds could be injected by owner, or secured via loans to get more built.... the issue is how are the remaining £400m acquired and how are the repayments covered if the secured sponsor no longer exists

A substantial of money (100m+) has already been spent on the stadium by Moshiri in exchange for additional shares. Probably a lot more has been put in based on advance payments and orders to contractors and suppliers.

We don't need to secure funding for the entire 500m. We can still sell the naming rights, even if we may not get as much money as USM were willing to pay.

The same people that are saying we are screwed now are often the ones who ridiculed people for saying that Usmanov would fund it and that we'd have to go to the markets and take on debt. What has changed for you, lads?

The stadium is seen as a solution to our poor financial footing - not a financial problem. Yes, this is a financial blow, but I still think the stadium will proceed.
