New Everton Stadium

Laing have been approached to comment on the Everton stadium issue but have declined to at this point.
Well if we don’t hear anything this week I will try an discover the veracity of that early next week. My Laings contact is currently on leave. Apologies, unless you already have an official source of course. Is that the quote above identifying construction news? If so, fair play, I will look for it

I have no contact at Laings - I just read it from a link to an industry newspaper supplied to me from another poster on here - and the bottom line was that no comment had been received thus far.

If they have since updated that it's news to me.

Unless there's a mad billionaire investor out there

Make it happen Jeff.

I've lost count of the number of people who've told me this is dead now. People I wouldn't necessarily describe as excitable types.

Unless there's a mad billionaire investor out there willing to buy a debt ridden club and fund a stadium build while keeping their fingers crossed the club doesn't get relegated in the next few seasons, then - IMO - this is done for.
Its not "done" yet Dave. There are many avenues that are still ongoing, there is no way this would have commenced without proof of funding, that will be the Commerce side of Business doing their due diligence, both from Ours and Contractors perspective.

However, I can see why there is so much doubt and once again it comes down to piss poor management by the Overlords of Everton. There is no doubt, as with all major projects it COULD be affected by recent events and what that NEEDS is the CEO/Moshiri/Chairman/Everton Football Club to come out and explain what impact, If any, Usmanov/Moshiri ties will have. This will alleviate or affirm any concerns, so where is that Communication?

Its a simple communication issue that Everton are failing at miserably since Mosh Da Man took the reigns, I cant believe that we are where we are with his mis-management of all Everton and football related matters. Everton are better than this, at least in Blue Bill time and very much prior to we communicated, maybe its a direct result of Social Media driving everyones need to know the ins and outs of a ducks arse?

All the above being said, I do agree that it is perilous situation, conflict on our doorstep and with a real fear of getting sucked into it has far reaching implications way more important than Everton, but for those of us who seek the "relief" that Everton and its Periphery provides to the daily grind and constant barrage of negativity )albeit, without much to lift our mood from Everton!) then it does give an outlet, mental health an all that being severely impacted over the last few years.

You made a point about all "investment" being tarnished by corruption whether it be East/West, Right/Left, Tory/Labour, Trump/Biden or whatever and this point no one can really argue against, hardly anything will be "untouched" at some level by the Cogs of Corruption, so where does that leave us? Do we accept that a level of this exists and just accept it, as it is in all of our daily lives already or do we challenge it? A proper conundrum, dont you think?

Acceptance comes with its obvious issues, as does challenging.

I wish we had the answers. Personally, I Dont! But I do want Everton and its future secured due to the Extremes of Joy and Despair it has provided me in my nigh on 60 years, I dearly want it to continue, so maybe i have to accept a bit of the "shitty world geo-politics" that affect it?

It aint over til the fat lady sings and she aint anywhere near ready to perform yet.

SO UTFT and onto BMD(yes it is still BMD Dave!!, for now anyways!)

Debt from the sources Everton will loan from will want the type of security a club battering down the door to relegation cant offer, and its revenue isn't great enough to borrow against. Usmanov was to be the guarantor.

If Moshiri took the hit on debts and wrote them off he'd still demand a hefty amount of money for his shares.

We could be in a Peter Johnson selling up state of limbo here in the near future. I could easily see that scenario unfold.
It was only 5-6 weeks ago you were saying we were not going down tho Dave?

Is staying at goodison still an option? I mean how far down the line we're all the contracts? Have we signed anything to say goodison will be handed over in 2-3 years?

I think best case scenario is we stay at goodison. Fans take over the club, we likely get relegated due to serious debt and in 10-15 years an owner with money like moshiri/usmanov comes back and gives us hope of one day being in the prem again.
Staying at Goodison is an option if you want the club to fall behind and sink into the abyss

Great post mate.

I think there's bound to be a spectrum of views on this from the catastrophic to the other extreme of the sanguine (and improbable) "we'll just get another 'more suitable' investor". We all want a successful Everton though.

No one is saying it's easy to find another investor, but you are completely wrong to say it's impossible too. There is a middle ground needed here in this discussion
