New Everton Stadium

LCC just made a statement to the effect there'd be no funding of any new Everton stadium as far as they are concerned, just the usual general commitment to search for locations for the club.

Oh dear, looks like someone's been feeding a few porkies to client hacks to spin a 'development' line for the carpet baggers.

What a shameful bunch. 15 years of this. Has there ever been worse 'custodians' than this loD of Shylocks?

They got the press releases prepaired before the AGM, seeded the jurnos, told the shareholders later then padded everything out with videos, project without detail and headed for the hills.

@bbcmerseyside: NEWS: Liverpool council stresses it is "clearly not in a position to fund the costs of a new stadium" for #Everton FC. More at 1 on 95.8fm
Some might now suggest the stadium stuff last night was deployed to deflect away from cash brought into the club from player sales and onfield performance will now go to paying off debt rather than the expected (by many) transfer budget Martinez has earned.

Perish the thought like.

...headed for the hills laughing their bollocks off again and clutching Martinez's transfer budget to pay down debt and increase the value of their shares.

It would be unfair of me not to point out that suntan did spend a day and half each week on this so hopefully I have been fair and balanced.

A couple of thousand short with heavily restricted views is not bad at all. Make Goodison a completely restricted view free stadium and its filled.

Unless it's the derby, or a huge game, would you buy a ticket behind a post where you can see [Poor language removed] all or very little?

I certainly wouldn't.
But do we have enough of a local fan base to fill 50,000 seats? Of the restricted views are a big turn off but I struggle to see where another 10,000 people are going to appear from to fill a new one

Did anyone seriously expect anything other than this news?

I mean, this is a board ran by ol' Suntan and "Blue Bill" - they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone a stadium.

You've just got to hope the £20m+ in transfer money we should have still exists and hasn't been lost to OOC as per usual.

I don't think we would need to sell out every week, but Sunderland have averaged 40k this season and I think Everton in a new stadium might do something similar. There would be more season ticket sales, more corporate facilities, and we would sell out for all the big games.

This ^^^

Also, with Bobby leading us into the CL at some point, and maybe winning some silver stuff, more fans will start turning up at the stadium. Success attracts fans, and also expands the fan base outside of the local area.

Okay someone tell me if I've got this right:

Is it we have boss new stadium planned, design sorted, location sorted, and all we need now is the tooth fairly to give us the small fee of £38475983257893758093673802985703 to fund it and we're good to go?

@joeforliverpool Everton looking to move to Walton hall park? This true? Over my dead body! I will fight against this all the way!

getting Royally ripped on there

It will be over her dead body by the time this lot gets a new stadium.

I'm not saying she is going to die soon to a cardiac arrest due to her weight, but more at the incompetence of our board taking forever and a day to sort it.
