New Everton Stadium

It was a hit piece on our new home by a kopite berk, nothing more nothing less, and to those calling Evertonians offended by it “sensitive” is very offensive.
The editorial team at the arthritic should take a long hard look at themselves for publishing this nonsensical, inflammatory drivel. They claim to be an independent sports publication with no bias, but this gets the ok?!
There are a couple of Everton journos on the books you would think should have got the green light to pen anything to do with the club, but they give it to that Hughes whopper? They must need to be playing up to their American subs with such rubbish.
Even funnier - the two Everton writers working for the arthritic retweet the link to the hit piece ffs.

Any self respecting blue should terminate their subscriptions immediately, and the club should ban them.
That's absolutely unforgivable.

They need pillorying for that.

Almost 100% with you on this David....almost.

From the very start you have pushed the line the club should distance itself from the name Bramley Moore.
The majority of supporters have not held the same view and acknowledge the fact the club will incorporate hints to the past history just as it has said it would.

Is it a "don't look at us look at them" opportunity for Whataboutery FC ? Darn right it is , it's what they do.

The club should fully embrace the name as it is undoubtedly part of the regions history . After all it is a landmark address much the same as many around the City like Gladstone & Penny Lane.
There is no shame or accountability for Everton Football Club with this and never has been.

If there's anything that I'm unsettled about is the Athletic's Blue journos have not said a peep on this slurring.
Begs the question are they told to stand aside in matters such as this.
For me the club have got it right 100% at the moment: they cant unmake the Bramley Moore name, but they've acknowledged the need to address it when this stadium is done and the pump house is renovated. Also they have underscored the fact that this stadium has nothing to do with all this by emphasising that the stadium name is the Everton Stadium prior to it becoming the <insert corporate name> Stadium.

The name of the stadium will eventually obliterate the usage of the location it's at. That's just inevitable.

And as far as O'Keeffe and the other feller at The Arthritic are concerned: they should be cold shouldered by the club in terms of access to interviews or any sort of inside info that they usually enjoy. That whole rag needs punishing. Allowing a Kopite hack to try and undermine the biggest project in the city just because its Everton doing it is 'kin outrageous.

Both retweeted the link - Neither distanced themselves from the article.

Tried some wharraboutery on the good articles they have written about BMD/Everton prior to this rambling kopite click bait, hit piece, but haven’t answered mine or others questions asked.

They should be banned until it’s retracted.

Thanks for this, really good post.
Reading Simon Hughes' articles used to be a painful experience when I was a subscriber. Here's a man who earns a living writing, yet clearly has made no attempt to improve his craft since doing his GCSE's. Sentences, or even whole paragraphs that you need to read several times. My toes would be curled up by the end of each article. It is a mystery that he is still employed by The Athletic.
He's a chimp who probably cut his teeth writing for tat like The Anfield Wrap and got the Athletic job after getting a third-class media studies degree at John Moores.

What he did with that Bramley Moore article was wrong on so many levels it just underlines what he is: a Kopite who writes for a pat on the head from other Kopites, who's own twisted view of the history of their own club wont allow for any serous examination. If Hughes is so troubled by history let him go back in time to a night in Brussels 37 years ago. He can get a book out of that...a very big one.

They rely on the good will of Everton supporters for their careers. Swerve these people and make them pay for it.

It was a despicable act what Hughes did. To promote him and his muck should have ramifications for his two 'blue' colleagues.

Davek has been onto this name issue about Bramley Moore for well over a year now.

Perhaps it's time to drop the name from the dock completely and announce the name of the new ground.

From then on any news about it will be "progress continued on the Stake stadium.." etc.

If you hide history you can never learn from it.
Keep the name in some form, explain the history, move on

So the pub has to change it's name to the '' Nags Head '' I don't think so. We know as Evertonians our history. We cannot be held culpable for buying a plot of land.

Time maybe to repost this from a proper journalist. Just for ‘balance’ like.
