I do not think a name change is necessary whatsoever. The club nears to own the legacy of this land and mark its history in a thoughtful and sensitive way.Regards all this talk of changing the name of the dock etc, does anybody think the pub over the road which bears his name will/should change its name? Genuine question.
The club should ignore everything. A dock, filled in, building on top, end of story.I do not think a name change is necessary whatsoever. The club nears to own the legacy of this land and mark its history in a thoughtful and sensitive way.
The tunnel at Goodison has had a bit of a spruce up...
Was there today, too! Looks fantastic.
Yeah, they went all over the place during that discussion. I'd have thought Chapman would have done a better job of steering the conversation.I’ve just listened to this… wish I hadn’t.
They are talking about an opportunity for Everton etc etc. At one point I heard George Floyd mentioned. It all seems a bit forced to me and they seem to treat Liverpool people as if we are thick.
Anyone from Liverpool will know about the slave trade and how our port was one of the most used ports for the import and export of slaves. Bramley Moore as a man lived what? Almost 200 years ago, to say times have changed since then is an understatement.
It’s almost like they are talking a load of nonsense without actually saying what they want the conclusion to be. My own conclusion is that of course slavery was bad, however it was acceptable at the time, and massive business. We can’t just forget about the name ‘Bramley Moore’ because it has slave trade roots, we might aswell re write the history of the city. In my opinion the stadium should be called the Bramley Moore Dock, I think anyone who finds this racist or condoning racism needs to get a grip. Things are different, times are different, however the site is called Bramley Moore, end of.
^^^ Interesting that he turned down a knighthood.
