New Everton Stadium

Poor old Scotland Road.

As Bishop Williams says, the old place might be resurrected yet by our new ground.

Memories for me as a kid in the 80's and family links The Throstles the Honky Tonk, Dolly Hickey's much more for the older generation I know but
even so still plenty of memories. Used to like being in a pub (drinking coke) with family watching the footy results on Grandstand. They let Scotland Road get destroyed one end then the other. Who knows if the new ground will help.

Still can't get my head around that image.
Gonna be heartbroken when Goodison goes. ?
Just showed me old man, 84 years old, just had a few days in hospital after some minor heart issues, hopefully not due to me getting him ticket for Top Balcony last week at Palace match ?, he was the same @tommye , his Dad, my Grandad is buried in Anfield Cemetery, all of us Blues through and through, gonna be a huge, huge wrench when it's not there, so, so many great memories.

It's sad, but also a necessary evil, long tome overdue but christ the thought of it not being there is a real jaw dropper.

I drive past most days and have been going there for coming up to 50 yrs since my first game.

Just the thought of it not being there has my head AOTS. It's part of who I am. A massive part. It's always been there, it's always been part of me.
Be like losing some of my soul seeing it go. ?

Agree mate.

Not sure I'll get a ticket for last match but will be going either way, with my lad and hope my Dad is still around to join us, to bid a sad but fond farewell.

Can't quite find the words to sum up the emotions now, never mind on the day. ?

Would have been good as that, just leave a modified Bullens and part of the Gwladys St and they would have a 8-12k stadium, plus plenty of space around the pitch to do what they need.
Agree. They are missing a trick there I think.

Only thing against it is probably the maintenance costs of keeping the bullens stand operational.

I imagine the plumbing and wiring in the stand are a nightmare to work with

It would need gutting, the lower tier above the paddock should be ripped out bar a few rows right at the front and then a new large concourse could be created in that gap to service the lower and upper tiers with the reduced capacity. The ground floor would be needed to create the dressing rooms etc.

It would be cheaper to build new to maintain and probably better to have four small stands instead of one big one, but it would be worth that bit more effort to keep the Goodison pitch and have the ladies and the youth teams playing there. It won't happen of course and the sad thing is I'd imagine it will be hard going to build and fill all those new homes and buildings on the completely demolished site in these economic conditions. There would be a lot less to do if it remained a football ground of some sort.
