New Everton Stadium

Will this happen if/when we go down? Apparently we are going to lose £90m with a relegation, and it’s well documented how bad our finances are already. So will it definitely happen?

It will happen yes. However if we don’t come straight back up, I suspect the stadium will be owned by a “third party” and leased back to us as tenants, similar to Coventry with the Ricoh Arena. We simply can’t afford to pay for the stadium if we’re not a Premier League club. Can we pay the rent as a non-PL a club? I’m not sure, but let’s just say if we’re playing at Prenton Park in the foreseeable future I wouldn’t be stunned.

Yes, I think so. It adds more to our value to have that finished than not.

That might depend on where we are in the build and any other outstanding debts (real and/or capitalised). Read somewhere that if we are relegated our value could plummet by 70% or more. I'm not sure if we've passed that tipping point yet.... or indeed how that equates with Moshiri's lowest acceptable selling price. We made substantial losses in recent years and a lot of previous debts were already capitalised by Moshiri too, increasing his shareholding. Our turnover has increased since Moshiri took over but a good slice of that was probably USM induced.

The original financial model was always sketchy and underpinned by USM involvement. We all turned a bit of a blind eye to that because we probably thought a fella who pays £30m just for first dibs at naming rights is always going to meet any shortfall and fill the gaps. Since then he's been sanctioned (how permanently we don't know), and according to Moshiri build costs have spiralled by another £200m+.

Reports about Qatar Airways being the stadium sponsor and last night reports that the Qatari owners of PSG want to invest in a PL club ? although they did mention Spurs. Can’t see Levy stepping aside though.

Yikes. It's a scary thing to contemplate.

I'm trying not to.

Spurs are already ripe. I don't know if that increases or decreases their attractiveness. I'm not sure you could boost their value much further.

The thing is, the Qatar Airways Stadium sounds rubbish. At least The Emirates, or The Ethiad are abbreviated so don't sound as bad. The Qatar Stadium actually sounds worse than The Qatar Airways Stadium.

We simply cannot afford to go down. Yes the board have been poor but also Lampard has to take alot of responsibility. He has people like Ashley Cole and Paul Clement with him, experienced guys who shoulder some of the blame. Lampard’s record for us is simply awful and if we don’t win against Southampton he is gone. People will wonder why he didn’t go before the World Cup but 12 wins out of like 42 games is simply awful. The players aren’t that bad, he just get cant and isn’t coaching the team correctly.

If we go down then the whole club is in trouble. I imagine the fa will come after us for FFP and we could end up like Derby. Really worrying times however Frank needs to get the team to win on Saturday. We need to attack and have a bloody go for a change.

Being honest they can call it what they want, who ever pays the most. We will always call it bramley Moore.
You might, no one else will.

If your line of thought was correct Goodison Park would have been known as the Mere Green stadium for the last 130 years.

There's an inverse relationship between my interest and pride in this and the possibility of relegation. The more we sink, the less this seems important.

That's natural isn't it?
