New Everton Stadium

The idea of a stadium in the docks makes me nearly wee in excitement. It'd be so boss.

Ya think? Not me.

A big shiny new stadium is a sticking plaster on a severed artery. Attendance figures are of tiny consequence nowadays in comparison to sponsorship, global marketing etc, and for most games I don't think we'd be attracting much more than the current capacity anyway.

All a docklands stadium means to me is scalping car park fees, no street parking, lots of nice clean empty seats a lot of the time and a bulldozer being taken to everything that we, our fathers and our grandfathers have held dear.

Progress? Salvation? The Holy Grail?

If you say so. I personally will treasure the Old Lady until her weighty counterpart sings...

A new stadium, right on the docks, being used in every photo of Liverpool
Docks across the world, that's plenty of free marketing right there.

Oh and then add in naming rights. Of course we'll call it something different but that's significant.

And then the corporate boxes.

We immediately join a fast track back into the commercial zone of football of which we have been so far behind for a ridiculous time.

I'd love to stay at Goodison forever but the fact of the matter is, we can't. We've behind in this aspect for so long that we've been hampering ourselves.

The romance and all that, doing it our way, that's fine but we have to accept that it doesn't happen nowadays. We need to catch up, quickly. A new stadium allows us to do that.

Drove past the site yesterday, almost unable to comprehend how boss it would be/how big the space is. Imagine a bevvy in town then walking the game. Straight back to town after it. Would be unreal.

When Russ slots a 90th minute winner against Bournemouth on a Monday night to seal us the League we all universally bounce five minutes down the road to town and celebrate our title win.

A new stadium with ancient decor/design will be awful imo. It may mean something to some fans but it means nothing to me and i've been watching us for 35 years plus. Yes it looks nice when you watch on TV but is it needed on a spanking new stadium i think not.
Think you meant to say 35 minutes plus didn't you? Heritage is so important in every sphere, can't understand how you don't see it.

A big high profile stadium in the docks would massively improve the sponsorship and global marketing attraction ...

You haven't got a clue. You think people are seriously suggesting we just replicate the aesthetic of Goodison within a new stadium? Jesus Christ. Do you know the meaning of the phrase 'design cues'?

You're probably unaware of the subtleties of the archie leith criss cross designs that have been incorporated in to recent kits in subtle, modern ways. That's what we're talking about, not an old wooden replication with faded blue paint FFS!

*Leitch

It's all about a balance. I think Leitch balconies and giant St Ruperts Towers in each corner would be the wrong way to go. Non Evertonians would not get the significance and the ground could end up being called by the rest of the league as the "Hogwarts Stadium".

However, Subtle design nods to our history incorporated into the design could be the way forward. for example some of the glass exterior of the stadium could mirror the Leitch design, a St Ruperts Tower could be etched into a large glass panel etc.

Personally I would go even further and have a dedicated museum next to the stadium with a Restaurant/Cafe/Bar and the real St Ruperts Tower.
